I finally opened this up and used it a few days ago, it's been in a couple of weeks but I've been busy. I am a beginner sewer who only intends to sew things for personal use and doesn't intend to get more into it, so I was initally looking at getting one of those cheap mini $25-30 ones, but all of them only did a straight stitch and did not have a reverse stitch function. I know the reverse is important to help keep the end of a seam (seem?) From unraveling and several things I planned to sew require a zig zag stitch, so I looked in a higher price range that was still "basic" and affordable. This one was affordable and had the stitches that I need. It comes pre-spooled and strung with a bobbin in the bottom compartment and additional threads, but the bottom thread is not threaded. The manual makes no sense and attempting to find videos also didn't work because where they left the bottom thread was nowhere near the needle and I could not comprehend how they got it threaded because I was doing exactly what they showed to no avail. I'm the end, I stared hard at the area under where the sewing needle goes, the bobbin compartment leads into that by a tiny gap, so I unraveled a length of thread from the bobbin and used the needle threader to push it through the tiny gap so that it was where the needle comes down and that worked just fine. IMPORTANT FOR BEGINNER SEWERS WHO STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE HANG OF IT AND NOT IN THE RIGHT HABITS! When you thread the lower thread, make sure you are turning that large knob on the side of the machine TOWARDS YOU, counter clockwise. It must always be counter clockwise. I caught myself in the mistake of going clockwise and even though it threaded, every single practice stitch I tried got jammed after 2-4 stitches. Badly. I cut it loose, unthreaded it, went to thrrad it again, realized my mistake as I attempted to turn the knob away from me and it wouldn't thread, quickly changed to turning it towards me, it threaded immediately and every practice stitch I tried was nice and smooth. I was able to sew myself a pair of underwear with minimal trouble, for the most part the trouble I did have was because it was my first time sewing knit fabric and if I strayed too close to the edge, then the fabric would get stuck where the needle goes down. Thankfully, due to my lack of experience, I was sewing very slowly and was able to catch it before it became a full blown jam and just a gentle tug after lifting the needle and foot was all it took to fix the problem. Overall, I think using this sewing machine will work well for me, I will be sewing a pleated skirt next. Picture with my iron next to it for size reference. This was my first mechine I was able to make 1 item with it a small rice bag using cotton fabric. The needle broke younhave to stop almost after every stitch to fix the thread. Then after my second use it stopped working all together not to mention you can’t find what type of bobbin to buy since the bobbin wonder is extreemly complicated to figure out. Regular bobbins didn’t work in the mechine I had bought 3 different kinds and sizes and none of them were the same and trying to look this mechine up for anything is also impossible. However definitely good for like a hem but not a good mechine for anyone else. And it broke after the first use not to mention I only had it for a week. ... show more

What I loved about the sewing machine is that is easy to use. The other thing I love about it is that it is portable you are able to use it with batteries or you can plug it in as well.
