I have not purchased a sewing machine in 40 years. Nice up grade. After 4 months- I have done French hand sewing by machine. Zippers. Button holes. Very thick folded seams. Fine lightweight knit fabric. I have tried lots of stitches and presser feet. Only one foot so far I wished it had. Lots of notions included. Negatives: I have had to read the book a lot. I thought I already knew how to sew. Ha ha. zigzag is to the right side in the pressure foot hole. I’m adjusting over time. I was trying to put in a hidden zipper. I’m confused or missing something or need a pressure foot. That has been my biggest learning curve.

I was hesitant to order from Amazon but it arrived safe and sound and work perfectly. It has saved me so much time over my old , simple, non computerized Janome i doubt I will use half of the stitches but it is a dream to use!

I begin with this: I love Janome sewing machines. I have had two of them previous to this. It is hard to tell if a sewing machine is what you really can handle until you see it in person and read the instruction book. This model looked wonderful on Amazon.com. However, when it arrived and I partially unpacked it so that I could read the manual and take a look at the machine, I realized it was too big for my space, too heavy for me to handle, and too complicated for me to figure out. If I sewed for a living it might have been different. But I do not and I am 77 years old, so complicated is not what I want. I sent it back. However, it should arrived in Arizona two days ago and it still is not there. I didn't use the machine at all and I packed it right back the way it was. If I don't get my refund, my opinion of Janome may change. For now, if this model fits your lifestyle, go for it. Janome machines are top notch.

Great features!

This machine is easy to use, although I am still learning what all it can do. The thread cutting option is a favorite of mine because it quickens the process between finishing one line of stitching and moving onto the next one while quilting. The extra space in the middle makes it easier to fit a quilt through while sewing. The motor is also very quiet. I wish there was a feature to let me know when I’m running out of bobbin thread. I’m not used to having to keep an eye on that. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase!
