  • Great machine
I’m thrilled! Josh at Chattanooga Sewing answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly. The machine was packaged well; everything was included, and it works wonderfully. All transactions should be like this one was!!

  • The Janome is a smooth, quite machine.
This machine is very user friendly, and quiet. One should, however, use a leader when beginning on small quilt pieces. Acceleration is slow, compared to my Brother and Singer, but I very much prefer the Janome overall and am a happy customer.

  • Still a great machine
The sewing machine is great. I've owned this model before and was happy then, and I'm happy now. However, the package was missing the Accu-Feed assembly. Rather than send this machine back I opted to buy another. Packaging was less than stellar as the shipment actually consisted of 3 separate packages, the sewing machine, the extension table and the thread holder. All were packed in a much larger box and there was some shifting of the main heavy box, damaging the thread holder. I again chose to bite the bullet and take the loss rather than send the entire machine back and wait for a replacement. ... show more

  • Perfect for Quilters
I love my machine!! I am retired and now I can piece and quilt every day. After extensive research I decided on this one. I have never owned a Janome before. I have a great straight stitch machine with a 9" throat but I wanted a speed control and the availability to zig zag and do decorative stitches. I thought I'd use both machines. The threader works great as does the thread cutter. The automatic tension is perfect for piecing and when I quilt no matter what batting I am using. My machine is so much quieter. The 11 inch throat gives me the room I need. I have done 2 queen size quilts on it with double batting. I would highly recommend this machine for any quilter wanting to free motion or ruler quilting. I did buy a large extension table. I can't tell you how the button holder or zipper foot works but if you want to invest in a good computerized quilting machine that's versatile for all your quilting this is a great investment at a reasonable price without breaking the bank for a longarm. Happy quilting!! ... show more

  • False advertising
I love the machine. But, beware .. This offer was to include the bonus kit. I did not get it. I called Amazon and they said they were not responsible. I called JANOME and left 3 messages. They have never called me back. So maybe if you are Looking to buy a new machine, a different company may be a better choice. ... show more

  • Great machine
This has become a favorite family member! What a great machine!

  • Big, Heavy, Capable machine.
I upgraded from a smaller,14yo Janome. This machine is very big, heavy, and the very large throat is a game changer with bigger projects. The foot lifts extra high for thick projects and the machine has the umph to go through all those layers with grace. It's easy to thread, bobbin drops in and threads very easily. The (included with my package) table is huge. There's no storage case, but it comes with all the extra feet, a knee lifter that is nice to have. I don't know that there's anything unusual here for a machine that cost $2000.00 - but I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet. ... show more

  • Great sewing machine but has issues
I am the owner of 6 different sewing machines. The Janome 8200 was purchased for the larger throat size and a couple other features. I use it exclusively for free motion embroidery. Unfortunately, the only recommended stitch is regular straight stitch offset to left. This makes it hard to see. If using a center stitch there seem to be tension issues. (I use 3.5 tension, NOT the automatic tension which makes a tight, ugly stitch.) There is no "special" stitch like stitch #59 on a Babylock. There are frequent bird nests and the bobbin case frequently jumps out of the bobbin race and jams the machine, often breaking the needle. I've tried mitigating it by winding my bobbins extra tight. (I have a separate bobbin winder as the built in winder does not wind them tight enough). I'm told this is an issue common to Janome. Unfortunately, I did not find this information in time to NOT order this sewing machine. I've ordered a couple replacement bobbin cases and will see if that helps. My Janome repairman says he can't fix it. UPDATE: Purchased "Janome Bobbin Case for The MC 6500P, 6600P, 7700QCP & More" on Amazon. I have used this new bobbin case to complete a project on my Janome 8200 QCP. I needed to move the tension down to 2. Unlike the bobbin case that came with the sewing machine, this bobbin case did not jump out of the run causing a needle crash. I consider it a fix to an issue with this Janome sewing machine as far as free motion stitching goes. This bobbin case has an added metal ring piece on the top that the orginal bobbin case did not have. ... show more
