This machine really works.
First, kudos to the Amazon seller, Faribault Vacuum and Sewing (First Vacuum on Amazon). They shipped the machine immediately, and it arrived quickly, in perfect condition. Set up was simple and the HD-3000BE worked flawlessly right out of the gate. I started off sewing seams with six layers of heavy upholstery fabric, with basting tape sandwiched in between, and the machine hummed along with no hesitation. Bobbin winding is simple and quick. The needle threader saves a ton of time. The built-in storage areas for the accessories and different presser feet means no more losing stuff. This machine is also very quiet, about half as loud as my no-defunct Singer. The HD-3000BE is nice to look at. Glad I got the black version. It's cool. There are some plastic parts to the machine, but there is a lot of metal. It is nice and heavy, which means it does not jump around while stitching. The foot pedal is very easy to control precisely, so I can go through thick materials as slowly as I want. In my opinion, this machine is a good value, is versatile, well made, and easy to use. Best heavy duty machine for quality and price on all cloth and leather professional projects

This machine is for sure heavy duty! I am impressed with the consistent stitch. My company Janeyandnell.com makes handmade handbags. I consistently switch from cloth to leather stitching in one project. This machine will not skip a stitch or loose the stitch quality sewing from thin material to 4 layers of soft leather! I keep my thread tension slightly above 4 for consistent tight stitch. I also use universal thread for continued use with all materials. I do not need a thicker thread for leather because of the machine quality. The value for this machine is amazing! Lots of extra feet and gadgets to sew all your products or hobbies. I have a Juki for additional stitching and embroidery. Honestly use this machine more for the quality of a consistent stitch. I also rarely have to change needles. I Have used the same universal needle that came with the machine for multiple projects and thickness of material. I highly recommend this machine for all cloth and leather/purse quality projects. Great machine with a horrible toolbox!
I have 2 of these HD3000s, a white one and this black BE. I quilt and sew high volume for a living, and these are wonderful workhorse machines. Light enough to tote to guild and classes. I highly recommend this machine to anyone not caring about over-the-top bells and whistles. However, of the 30+ machines I have owned in my lifetime, this one has THE WORST TOOLBOX EVER! It falls off, it's too small, the inside front "wall" is so low that your tools fall out making it impossible to close the cover. Come on, Janome! After all these years, you've got to be better than this! ... show more

Bought my 3000 HD BE in June 2019. Yes, I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. Wanted a reasonably heavy-duty, non-computerized sewing machine to stitch leather, heavy-duty outdoor fabric, polyester webbing, multiple denim layers, etc., in addition to typical medium and light-weight fabrics. No, I’m not making gun holsters or horse saddles with it. Neither am I re-upholstering a ’57 Chevy. But this machine has stitched countless patches on motorcycle “biker” leather vests (through very heavy seams). It’s made outdoor furniture cushions with heavy-duty outdoor fabric, marine-grade backing, and full-length zippers. It’s produced corn hole bags (canvas with suede-leather patch), multiple layers of polyester webbing joined with box-X stitching, custom fly-rod rod bags, and blue jean pant repair (belt loops in particular). Lighter weight projects such as tote bags, throw-pillow covers, place mats, window treatments, and the occasional pant and dress hems have all been part of the mix. Regret buying this
This machine says it works on leather. It says that it works on heavy duty fabrics. I have had nothing but problems since I ordered mine, trying to get a refund within the Window and was told that a refund possibly would not come depending on how the machine was received back by Amazon trying to get a hold of the manufacturer to get some kind of warranty or refund because the warranty sold by Amazon says that it’s cylinder manufacture warranty getting a hold of anybody is impossible very very, very disappointed with this machine. It has had nothing but issues since day one and it’s almost impossible to get any kind of help to either replace or repair at this point I regret buying it and wish I could get my money back ... show more

Great heavy duty machine
This machine is a workhorse. It has the typical auto threader that all Janomes have and it took some getting used to when back stitching. I needed a machine that would stitch thru multiple layers of outdoor fabric and this one went above and beyond. It did better than my $6,000 machine!

Heavy duty machine. Goes through all fabrics and handles lightweight material as well. Great bonus package. Lots of feet bobbins, many extras.
