  • Great Light Weight Sewing Machine
Style: Janome DC1050
I had visited my sister on Cape Cod and saw her use her Janome sewing machine. Seeing that my Singer sewing machine was very old (bought 1970) and VERY heavy (all metal) and I was constantly fighting with it to make it work, I asked her how she liked her Janome machine. She said it was the best machine she ever bought, actually received it for a gift from her husband. She showed me how smooth it worked and worked well it did! As soon as I came home I went over to JoAnn Fabrics thinking I could check them out but was told that my JoAnn's did not stock them. I wanted to test drive it first before buying it. I looked on line and found that Amazon sold the Janome Sewing Machine and I found the price to be very low priced. I took a chance and bought a $500.00 machine for $300.00. It was on sale! I received it within 3 days! (just before Christmas!) ( I decided it was my Christmas present to myself) I immediately took it out of the box and set it up as I had never had a computerized machine. I read the instructions which were very good and decided to sew bags to put my gifts in. (The machine is easy to operate. I tried many of the stitches and hope to continue to learn the rest.) The bags were a hit and I asked everyone who received a bag that if they did not want the bag I would keep it for next year! The machine of course is very light weight because it is made of plastic. But what a joy to carry it to my table. I just love it! I would highly recommend this machine! ... show more

  • So far so good!
Style: Janome DC1050
My previous machine was Brother XL-3750. I find this much sturdier, however one thing I was concerned with is that the snap-on adapter part of the feet is made of what I think is plastic and does not have a release button. So I feel a little scared every time I change the foot, worried that I will break either parts. I recently ordered a non-Janome snap-on-adapter that is made of metal and has a release mechanism, and hopefully that will make this machine perfect for me. It is much quieter than the one i had, and much heavier, which means the whole machine isn't going to jump around when I sew heavier fabrics. So far, loving it very much! ... show more

  • Easy operation.
Style: Janome DC1050
So far, this machine is a good deal for the money. Its easy to operate, has great stitch control and fills bobbins quickly and no tangle! I like this machine.

  • Gret purchase for the price.
Style: Janome DC1050
I like that I don't have to use a foot pedal. I like needle down and ability to drop feed dogs. A good variety of stitches.

  • Great sewing machine
Style: Janome DC1050
I have been sewing 30 plus years. Clothing at first and then quilts. I have had all manual machines. Brands have been Singer, Kenmore, Brother, Bernina and now Janome. This is my very first computerized machine. I am so pleased with this purchase. No guessing as far as stitch length or tension. The machine automatically does it for you! No pressure foot sewing (part of what sold me!). Needle in position (part of what sold me!) 50 stiches to choose from. Accessories are sparse but good quality. Light is LED and bright enough without being blinding. Fast shipping from seller. Received it in four days! Already ordered a quilting table extension. More bobbins in my Amazon cart! Happy customer. ... show more

  • Not the best, but not the worst.
Style: Janome DC1050
Pros: It is a nice light weight machine, handy to take to classes. It has plenty of stitches available, which makes it fun for little decorative touches. Cons: Disappointed that it can't sew through multiple layers of fabric. I tried to sew through a thick layer of batting and the machine skipped stitches and I was very frustrated and disappointed. I have to say I was embarrassed when the instructor brought up the fact I had purchased a lower end machine. I didn't realize it was a "lower end" machine when I purchased it, I purchased this machine because of it's weight, it's reputation and I just want to sew. ... show more

  • Great machine....
Style: Janome DC1050
Purchased for my wife awhile back. She loves this machine as the ones purchased before this one. She just wished it had better lighting. Existing LED lighting is still not sufficient. I keep reminding her that her vision is slightly impaired since she is blind in one eye and had limited vision in the other eye. The sound level needs to be addressed also. The machine makes noise while sewing the Kevlar material for the wedding dresses she manufactures. ... show more

  • Get this machine
Style: Janome DC1050
I was reluctant to get a computerized sewing machine because I thought the learning curve would be big. You tube made it easy. I love this machine. Even when I am using straight stitches it is so much better than my old Brother machine. I got a darning foot with it and I have been playing with freehand machine embroidery. It’s great. It’s the entry level computer machine and about $250 cheaper than the lowest one at my local Janome store. Yayyy. Made this butterfly playing with my new fancy stitches. ... show more
