This serger is easy to use and takes a lot of use and keeps on running. I am a dedicated sewer and have one for white thread and one for black. Although I wish they would finally invent a serger that threads as easily as an a sewing machine I do think this model is very easy to use.

    • Second Serger So Far So Good!

This is my second serger so far so good. My first one was a Brother and I liked it a lot but I sew daily and after 3 months I had to take it into the shop already for a $125 repair (only paid $165 for it). I took my time to learn how to thread the Janome reading the directions and was able to get it to work the first time. I didn't use the tie off method I like to know how to thread the machine myself since I change colors frequently. It was harder to thread than my Brother but it is much quieter. Hopefully it will hold up to my volume time will tell. With the package deal I receive lots of needles and a pair of tweezers that you cannot have enough of, very helpful. ... show more

Machine is a workhorse so far, beautiful, even stitches. Lower looper is aggravating to thread first few times but becomes easier the more you do it. Great video on You Tube from Ken's sewing that was immensely helpful. I use a flexible threader to reach the insertion point that's "hidden" in the workings of the machine. Oh my I’m so upset. The packaging was horrible and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna spend hours on trying to untangle the mess of thread the spools have. So much for easy set up. I will return when I’m done w the results.

    • A good machine for a new user
It couldn't possibly get any easier than this machine as a first serger. It came pre- threaded and was ready to go, making it easy to start. I encourage any new user to watch the DVD that comes with it, it's quite helpful in rethreading and setting up the stitches.

This serger is similar to the previous one I owned. It is a little difficult to thread the “loopers” but if you use the tweezer that comes with the machine, you should have no problem. Nice smooth stitching. I have used it on knits and cotton and it sews nicely.
