  • Love it
Style: Janome 3160QDC-T (Discontinued)
My last Janome lasted me 15 years (it is still running, I just wanted an upgrade) so I knew I wanted another Janome. I chose this for the middle-of-the-road cost and the multiple 1-step buttonholes. I love it. I love not having to use a foot pedal (this machine comes with one, but you can just use the Start/Stop button), I love the color of the light bulb, I love pushing a button to clip the thread at the end of a seam. When you choose a stitch in the computer, the screen on the sewing machine displays which foot you need to use. This is very handy. I've tried a lot of the decorative stitches and have to admit I like them more than I realized I would. They are so pretty on the edges of napkins or over hems. I was able to sew through six layers of denim on this machine, but it did walk away from me a bit. Might need a rubber grip mat to go under it if you do a lot of heavy work. One con: The arm of the machine that remains after taking off the storage bin is thicker than my old one. Hemming children's pants is considerably more difficult. I'm keeping my old machine for this purpose until my youngest child grows a bit more. This machine is supposed to be able to sew buttons on for you, but I had trouble with this feature. Probably just need to spend more time learning how to use it, but I found it faster to sew buttons on by hand. ... show more

  • Awesome! Makes sewing a joy.
Style: Janome 3160QDC-T (Discontinued)
I already own 3 different models of Janome sewing machines. A sewing and embroidery machine for me. A Hello Kitty that my daughter has used since she was around 10 years old. And a Sew Mini that I purchased to use at our cottage. And even those little inexpensive machines work great for basic sewing and have held up well with many hours of use. The primary reason I purchased this machine was to have an advanced machine that is easy to transport. And it is easily portable. With the hard cover on it is still very light and easy to carry. The 3160 is a "basic" computerized model and is top notch. I have been spoiled by having the features of a computerized machine and this has all those that I want most. There are cheaper computerized machines from other companies but the quality of this is better and built to truly last. Straight out of the box it worked great without a single adjustment needed. So if you are an experienced sewer this is basically a set it up and go to work. The accessories and feet included would cost well over $100 if purchased separately. The extension table is great. Using the LED control panel is extremely easy and pretty intuitive. The stitches built in cover all the basic sewing needs for stretch and non stretch fabrics. There are also stitches for more difficult and advanced techniques. This machine could certainly meet the needs of most sewers for all their sewing needs for many years. There are some decorative stitches included as well. This really is a joy to use and I am looking forward to getting to use it a LOT. ... show more

  • Skipped Stitched
Style: Janome 3160QDC-T (Discontinued)
Pulled it out of the box, threaded the machine, started to sew on a scrap piece of fabric…. SKIPPED STITCHES. Read the manual: re threaded the machine, changed out bobbin, even put in a new needle. No difference. Went online asked my question and every source told me to use the Janome Purple Needle this would solve my problem. Guess what, they are not sent with the machine, no name organic needles are! (Not really sure what an organic needle is and why I care) Anyway, I set this sewing machine aside, to continue sewing on my trusty Singer and am waiting for purple needles to be arrive. Curious why Janome would not just put their name brand product with the machine during the packaging of it. So now I wait! Was excited about this machine, because the reviews were positive, but very disappointed now as I wait for needles that should have come with the device so that it works correctly straight out of the box. ... show more

  • So versatile
Style: Janome 3160QDC-G (New)
My old machine is well over 25 years old and analog. I love the features of this machine without having to get the most expensive one. Self- threader, thread cutter, buttonhole attachment. The digital display makes it easy to change stitches and get the necessary stitch width and length. And it's lighter than my old one. I'm excited to be able to use twin needles and a walking foot. The markings on the plate are useful for quilting as well as regular sewing. I am very happy with it. ... show more

  • Love This Machine
Style: Janome 3160QDC-T (Discontinued)
I love this sewing machine. I have been sewing for almost 55 years and I have always had Singers. But the machines I have purchased in the past 20 years were a complete disappointment. From day one I had nothing but problems with the Singers. After reading numerous reviews, I took a gamble on the Janome 3160 QDC. This machine is so easy to set up and operate right out of the box. I have been making Covid-19 masks since the day it arrived. It has been a so nice to sit down to sew and not have complications from a faulty machine. For the past few years, I have dreaded sewing and it is something that has always brought me pleasure. To take a piece of fabric and create something is so rewarding but it lost it appeal due to the equipment I was using. Since we have been quarantined, after I complete my distance teaching responsibilities, I now actually look forward to sitting down and sewing. I now have a hard time putting it away for the evening. I cannot wait to try out the quilting kit. I love the fact that the Janome has a metal internal frame, metal gears, and an overall build which simply feels much more reassuring than the Singer that is made primarily with plastic. This company believes so strongly in their workmanship that they give you a 25 year warranty, which is something you just don't see any longer. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned seamstress, I highly recommend this sewing machine. ... show more

  • A good purchase
Style: Janome 3160QDC-G (New)
I’ve only had this machine for a few weeks so haven’t had many chances to use it yet. But so far I feel it was the right choice. It replaces a 20 year old Janome that is larger and heavier. This Janome is more compact and quiet and I’m really pleased so far.
