  • A great little monitor!
Color: 12 inch 800x600
First and foremost, let's just clear the air and get it out of the way that this is a $100 12" color monitor and not a $2,000-$3,000 4K Ultra HD 82" tv or something. For the most basic and practical applications, I'd find this little monitor to be an excellent choice for those who may be on the go (i.e. travel), perhaps for students in college dorms, for basic gaming purposes to hook up to, perhaps a raspberry pi, a cctv monitor or any basic application where a critical HD viewing experience isn't necessary. Don't get me wrong, for the price point, the images on this monitor are surprisingly good for my needs. I personally bought this monitor for the purpose of hooking it up to my recently modified home studio recording machine (DAW) so that I can see the display on a much nicer and colorized version than what's built into my recorder on it's tiny 2" display. I'm using the VGA option as the input and I'm pleasantly surprised at the results as my video mod is defaulted at a 4:3 mode ( see photos). In addition, I also plugged in a flash drive to the USB port on the back of the monitor to test a few movies out. Again, surprisingly decent images (see photos). Nice thing about the monitor is that you can choose the 4:3, 16:9 scale or an Automatic option that chooses best scale for you. I'm glad to see this on a $100 monitor, as for my purposes, I may need to switch scales, depending on if I'm using 4:3 on my recorder or 16:9 for a movie. As for the sound quality of the built-in speaker: Nothing ground-breaking here or anything, but it's a decent quality sound that you'd expect from something this inexpensive and compact. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase and for it's price point, I feel that this is a good bang for my buck. I'd recommend this monitor for anyone who seeks a compact sized monitor for basic and practical applications. I'm glad I chose this model. So far, so good. I'll keep my product review updated in the future if anything were to change. ... show more

  • Understand what you are buying,, Great all around monitor for retro computers
Color: 17 inch 1280x1024
The monitor works great with A/V for old 80s computers tested on a TI-99 and a C64. Works great and has the correct 4:3 aspect ratio. I also have it connected to a mini PC with Win 10 (HDMI) and works good at the native resolution. The audio is decent but you will not be blasting any tunes. If you are looking for a similar use case like retro computers, old consoles, security cameras, it will work well. Is it the best LCD panel, no is not. One of the main issues is that you have a fairly narrow field of view until it starts distorting the colors but is between that what I was expecting. But for what I need it is not a problem. I cannot talk about durability since I just got it, the construction is not the best but if you don’t touch it looks good. It does have an annoying red led that stays on while the monitor is off. ... show more

  • Piece of junk
Color: 12 inch 800x600
1 month after purchase this item stopped working on its own. Even while the monitor was off and plugged into a surge protector. Got very minimal use. Piece of junk

  • Worked great
Color: 12 inch 800x600
I bought this for a fairly unusual application as an alignment monitor for an electron microscope. I needed a BNC connection that could handle a 512x512 NTSC signal. This monitor was plug and play and worked perfectly for me.

  • Usable but with quality / feature set issues.
Color: 17 inch 1280x1024
It is serviceable if you just want to see some AV signal, e.g. for testing old AV equipment, however, I met with unnecessary issues, which severely limit usability. CONS: - Blurs image when upscaling the input signal to LDC resolution - Composite and HDMI have a huge visible lag, and they cannot be used for playing retro games. - VGA does not have a significant lag, but it cannot display 15kHz modes (used by Amiga, Atari ST, ...) even though composite handles it OK. There are many multisync monitors which have no issues with this horizontal frequency and I would expect that as a minimum in TV capable monitor. - The screws in the table stand protrude beyond the rubber feet and I had to remove 2 middle screws to keep my table with no scratches. - Screen tilt cannot be adjusted (without risking breaking flimsy stand plastic) even though it seems like it should be possible. - Comes with a power adapter but without C13 power cable. PROS: - Can display interlaced TV/composite signals with no flickering (probably connected to the signal lag). - Comes with BNC and VGA cables - Stand can be attached with no tools using a thumb nut. ... show more
