I couldn't afford the $200+ welding helmet I had my eye on so when I saw this one at a great price, I bought it instead. I've been using it for nine months now and I'm VERY happy with it. The Insight auto darkening filter is really good. Four sensors placed all around the lens for reliable switching. Lots of adjustment options to fine tune it to your needs. It even works with inverter machines that won't darken my cheaper lens. The headgear is very comfortable, locks in position up or down and is very adjustable for head size and forward or backward position of the shell relative to your face. But the welding helmet itself is what I really like. It's extremely lightweight and flexible, with a low profile. I weld pipe on construction projects and often have to get in tight spots. A smaller hood that's flexible really helps. Add to that that it's easily adaptable to a hard hat with the Jackson adapter and the front cover plates are standard 4 1/2 x 5 1/4 clear lenses and I'm sold. The only possible complaint I could offer is that I wish the light state of the Insight filter was a little lighter (it would help when working in a shop). I work in a fab shop and needed a new hood. After asking some guys at work and looking online this seemed to be the best option for me for the money i wanted to spend. I did snag it on sale for 100 bucks. It has a bigger viewing area than a miller classic for same price and has a nicer head mount like some more expensive hoods. So far i have about 40 hours with it and its working perfect so far, clarity is great. Edit* I've had this hood about 9 months now and im still happy with it, has held up to everything I've put it thru. From being under semis to tight places like under a loading dock. I sport a 7 to 8 inch beard and don't really have any problems getting singed. Best value for the price ... show more

If you read the instructions and learn the basics of this hood, it is a great hood for the money. I have the best lincoln makes 3350 and this one is as good for half the money. Also lighter. I recommend to anyone that wants a good hood, have mine 3 years and use everyday. Not as rugged as lincoln, but like the lightness with the halo shell ... show more

Bought this April 2021, although i dont use it every day, or every week to be honest, it's fairly comfy, lightweight, clear and 100% reliable everytime, still on original batteries. At work we use sellstrom helmets, and although more money, i hate them, i feel they're not as clear, comfy, and heavier. Although back in 2021 this helmet was $120, now $200+, I'd buy it again if i had to. ... show more

I’ve had this hood for a year now, using it 40+ hours a week. The clarity is great. It hasn’t flashed my eyes a single time. The hood doesn’t fall down after a few months like some of the cheaper ones, it still stays up when you flip it up after welding. The cover lens has a tight seal over the shaded lens so weld smoke/spatter doesn’t get up in there and ruin your visibility or damage the shaded lens. Love this hood! ... show more

In the field, its Jackson and Fmetal. I like Jackson. I got the message from Amazon the hood had arrived on my lunch break. Ran home, popped open the box, back to work, eat and setup the hood in 10 mins. Super easy and yum. Looks good, feels good, works great. Impressed. To: the guy who says the plastic is "too soft." It is definitely not floppy. Maybe if you leave it in the direct FL sunshine for a while. Anyway. From experience, that hood can take a 12' drop onto concrete all day. I have seen the other guys hoods just die from the same fall. Best hood I've had 'em all ... show more

This is the first ADF hood that I used, and I love it. Shade selection is super easy. The helmet itself is pretty lightweight but is durable. The best part is the headgear. Adjusting how high/low the helmet sits is easy with the adjusters on the top or "crown," just like a typical snap back adjustable baseball cap. The ratcheting back is very stable and makes putting the helmet on and off a cinch. This also has a headgear angle adjuster on the shell. Depending on if you use a respirator or not, you can adjust the helmet so when fully down, it can be closer or farther from your chin.
