The media could not be loaded. got this helmet to replace an old hobart. noticed immediately the lens was very clear and the filter was colored well. also noteworthy is that it wears comfortably on the head, the strap adjusts easily and it adjusts comfortably to the back of my head. when its on it feels like an extension of my skull which is great. other reviewers say its heavy. its definitely heavier than most hoods. not a problem unless you have a sissy girl neck and cant manage the weight. i wear it comfortably for around 75% of my 10 hour shifts 5 days a week. the sturdiness is where this helmet shines, and is why i picked it up. everyone at my work swears by jackson for their hoods. things are indestructible, most hoods i pick up usually feel flimsy and ive had hoods crack when i drop them. with this jackson, it feels like i could take a .50cal to the temple in it and be fine. if you want a real tank of a hood with a clear lens at a solid price, this cant be beat. excellent hood, very satisfied. ... show more

I couldn't afford the $200+ welding helmet I had my eye on so when I saw this one at a great price, I bought it instead. I've been using it for nine months now and I'm VERY happy with it. The Insight auto darkening filter is really good. Four sensors placed all around the lens for reliable switching. Lots of adjustment options to fine tune it to your needs. It even works with inverter machines that won't darken my cheaper lens. The headgear is very comfortable, locks in position up or down and is very adjustable for head size and forward or backward position of the shell relative to your face. But the welding helmet itself is what I really like. It's extremely lightweight and flexible, with a low profile. I weld pipe on construction projects and often have to get in tight spots. A smaller hood that's flexible really helps. Add to that that it's easily adaptable to a hard hat with the Jackson adapter and the front cover plates are standard 4 1/2 x 5 1/4 clear lenses and I'm sold. The only possible complaint I could offer is that I wish the light state of the Insight filter was a little lighter (it would help when working in a shop). Theis hood isn't the lightest weight autodark hood I've used. But for the price I'm very satisfied. The view through the lens is very clear. The controls are easy to use with gloves on. The shell is more flexible, kinda more like hard rubber than rigid plastic. But it holds it's shape and I think would tolerate being dropped better thank the hard shells found on most hoods. The graphics are clear and kinda retro/old school; which I like. On the whole a great functional hood without the Miller or Lincoln price tag.
