As a clarinet player of almost 5 years, I can say that this is a really nice mouthpiece. I use to own the Yamaha 4c and I would have a good tone if I pulled out a lot and what not but with this mouthpiece it sounds a lot better and it's easier to play own. It's almost as if it plays louder. I don't know. What I do know is that I like this. haha xD I recommend getting a Rovner ligature too. After that, your tone will be undefeated lol Oh and don't forget that this item here is wayyyy CHEAPER than what is sells for at other places. Can't beat it. A steal!

This mouthpiece will help get beginners "over the hump" after they've started learning clarinet for a few months. I got it for my niece, and she immediately sounded clearer and louder and more in tune. This is the first upgrade any parent should be looking at to help their beginner clarinet player.

I am a certified, practicing music teacher with a masters degree. Clarinet is my primary instrument. This is an excellent mouthpiece for the price. Admittedly, it is not the mouthpiece I choose for myself (The tone is a bit bright for me). However, for $30, it is a huge upgrade from the stock mouthpiece that your clarinet came with. I recommend this mouthpiece to all my students because it is affordable and you will instantly hear/feel a difference. If you really want to make an even bigger difference- try pairing it with a bonade inverted ligature. And- as I’ve seen many people commenting on this issue- it will fit any standard Bb clarinet. Though if it’s an older instrument the joints may be a bit loose, And a newer instrument you may find the joints tight (this will improve with time and cork grease). A qualified repair technician (or your kids band director) will be able to help. If you encounter this issue it is in no way the mouthpieces fault.

Bought this to replace the mouthpiece that came with my instrument. I didn't want to spend half the price of the instrument just on a new mouthpiece. After some research, I came across this and figured it was worth a shot. This instantly improved my tone and was easier to play. I also like the feel of the mouthpiece protection that comes on it.

This mouth piece is probably the best you can get for so little money. I think it even surpasses the "Fobes Debut" which I formerly thought was the best student mouth piece for about the same price. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that there are better mouth pieces...for hundreds of dollars more

I want to start by saying sorry on the delay of writing this. my daughter I got 18 months ago. There is reason I waited to review this item. My daughter plays clarinet year around (Marching band,pep band, symphonic band, honors band, solo competitions,etc) so it gets worked out almost daily . She knows her stuff when it comes to brands (she runs a certain brand of reeds, and her certain brand of clarinet). She's VERY happy with her clarinet set up. she insisted on a J and D Hite. I got her that as a gift 18 months ago. It's still hanging in there 18 months later and HEAVY use. I'd recommend J and D Hite to most any clarinet player. my daughter seems to be the expert when it comes to brands and how it should sound. if she says it sounds good then it sounds good . I'm just the first bank of Dad :)

As a private clarinet instructor with a relatively young studio, I decided to shop around to see which student model mouthpiece best met my student's needs. I ordered other brands/models and this one by far yielded the best and most consistent results in my students. Using the Hite mouthpiece has brought significant clarity to their tone and allowed them to more effectively use their air. A great option and at a price you can't beat!
