LIKE: Good price, compact, accurate, loads satellites fairly quickly, easy to read distance, strong magnet for attaching to front cart post, recharges fast, finds lots of courses. I did not try the extended features, but they sound useful. Hint: severe bouncing will cause the magnet to slip, a tie wrap around post solves that problem. DISLIKE: Control buttons are not easy to use, if you get too close to the next tee on your approach, it switches to next hole and won't stay on current hole even when manually clicked back to current hole, hook it to charger while off, it turns on and stays on when unhooked, must remember to manually turn it off, battery lasts about 1and 3/4 rounds or 6 to 7 hours, still, not bad, ... show more

I took this out of box charged the battery and headed to the golf course. Turned the unit on my local course came up on the screen and I was playing golf. No subscription fees. The screen is easy to read and seems to be every accurate.

Love that the strong magnet attaches my Swami at eye level on my roof support. I still use my laser for reads to the pin, but love having front and back distances to the green. Also small enough to pop in my pocket when I carry a few clubs to my ball when its cart path only.

The Swami is a very simple “no frills” GPS. Read the product description carefully. It is an accurate description and don’t expect anything more this unit than what it tells you. First off, the magnet is very strong and will not fall off of the carts window frame upright during use. It won’t even slide down. It is very stable. It picks up GPS signal in less than a minute from power-up and “play mode” is selected. The course you are at will be at the top of the list. You may have to choose which 9 hole course you are playing first if the course if flipped their 9’s that day, or you play at a 27 hole course. It is simple and straightforward. The score keeping is not good on this unit. My suggestion, just keep a regular scorecard. You get three yardages and their is no hole layout. You can distances to hazards quickly by pressing the “right hand arrow” and pressing it again will bring you back to your regular yardage screen. This unit is $100. Spend more if you want more. I got so sick and tired of shooting pins with my laser, I find this to be a welcomed little tool. I keep my laser in my bag, but usually don’t remove it anymore. 2ND UPDATE - COMPLETELY FROZE UP AFTER TWO HOLES! ACTUALLY NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH THE SECOND. NO WAY TO RESET OR EVEN TURN OFF! JUST HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE BATTERY DIES. i REALLY HOPED THIS WOULDN'T BE ANOTHER FLAWED PRODUCT BUT I WAS WRONG. MY LAST REVIEW SAID I WAS GOING TO SELL ON EBAY - NOW IT'S COMPLETELY JUNK! NOTE THE REVIEWS, THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM! IF YOU GO TO THE IZZO SITE NOTE THAT ALL THE REVIEWS ARE CHERRY-PICKED, NOTHING LESS THAN A FOUR-STAR. IZZO WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! (Initial review when new) Purchased this to replace my Golf Buddy. The good news is that it pulls up the correct course quickly and it's very accurate. There are two problems - one is that if you want to keep score you need to stay on the green of the hole you just played to enter that information. If you leave the green and approach the next tee box before you record your score it switches to the next hole and there is no way to go back. That's a real problem if you're being rushed or are in the habit of recording your score while waiting to hit on the next tee. I have never been able to complete a round without having to abandon the scoring feature and other players get really peeved if you stand there fiddling with your rangefinder. The other problem is that you can set the device to automatically turn off after about half an hour or stay on. Even though we're moving constantly and I'm checking distances or recording scores it seems to turn off after a couple of hours after setting the device to stay on. UPDATE #1: I changed this to a one-star rating because 1) the third time I used it I couldn't pull up the course I was on (major course in Denver suburb!). I updated the firmware at Izzo suggestion 2) Not being able to enter score once you leave green is a killer. Izzo response was "once you're 40+ yards down fairway you should be able to switch back and enter score"! Are you kidding? I'm focused on my next shot at that point! and 3) It keeps turning off after about six or seven holes. Gonna sell on Ebay. ... show more

My Izzo Swami 6000 has been an appreciated addition to my golf bag. It’s helped me the past couple of years to train my eye and brain for the distance between my ball and the pin. I also use the Swami to help me gauge the distance between my ball and a hazard such as water or a bunker. Better knowing which club to use has helped my game. I am a casual, moderate golfer with no need for laser accuracy in estimating distance. I play to relax and enjoy the day, so I didn’t want expensive technology.
