When I first opened the air vacuumed package the mattress was only 2" thick but within a few minutes it expanded to it's full 6" thickness, I measured it to be sure. Then I laid on it and it was soft yet firm enough to not feel the hard floor underneath it, and I'm a big guy. I did buy a pillowtop fitted sheet to go on top just because I was skeptical of a 6" foam mattress being comfortable but I don't think I need it, in fact I have not even put it on yet to see if it even fits. I have not slept on it yet, our trip comes soon. But my laying on it tests have me pretty impressed with it so far.

My girlfriend and I got this mattress for my Lance Cabover Camper, to replace a good quality air mattress we purchased at REI. Turns out this mattress is perfect in our application. Here's why: The trifold design makes it super easy to install. A conventional queen size mattress is very hard to get into the camper. The 4" hight allows us a bit more headroom than a conventional mattress, or the REI inflated mattress. Most importantly, this mattress is surprisingly comfortable. The top layer of memory foam is just enough to contour to our body shapes, without sinking too deep in. Very relaxing and restful. The cover itself is beautiful and functional, and can be removed for washing. One more point worth mentioning: we detected no off-gassing for this product. Zero! Very uncommon with foam products, and a big plus when it will be used in the small enclosed space of a camper. When the product arrived, it was tightly rolled into what seemed like a too-small box. But don't let that deter you. Once opened and allowed to expand to its full potential (in about 12-24 hours), each section of the trifold lays completely flat, as pictured in the Amazon listing. We recommend this mattress with enthusiasm!

I bought one to replace the mattress for our fold out couch. It doesn't fit inside the couch, but I wanted something really nice for when family stays over. This mattress was great just laying our tile floor. My husband and I used it the night that Idalia hit FL. Unfortunately we lost our house (and everything in it) to a fire during the storm, so we're replacing it with the exact same one and will be using as a guest bed.
