Overall, small, quite and easy in every way. Bought 2 on sale during the winter. The boxes were destroyed in shipping, so didnt have high hopes. Finally hooked them up in minutes. One definitely seems to work a better than the other. However they seem to cool at this moment. Guess we'll wait for the 110° weather to move in. Only draw back was the vent for the window. Having a 100 year old house the windows are small. Thankfully had old unused floor vents. So vented it straight down. Which was actually perfect as the hail destroyed last year's window unit.

I got this for my NYC studio and I’m very glad I did. Only reason I didn’t give it 5-statins because I do wish they had included the dimensions of the window adapter. My windows seem like normal windows however the size of adapter didn’t work for mine. If I just use the adapter without the additional extender it leaves an inch or 2 gap on each side in my window. If I use the sliding adapter piece it completely cover the hose opening/connection point because the slider is so long.

I will agree with other viewers that it can be loud and makes a clunk noise when starting or stopping, but if it works who cares! Our AC went out this summer and I bought this for the bedroom because who can sleep when it’s over 100 degrees not including humidity? I set the temp I wanted and anytime it goes over it automatically clicks(clunks lol) on. Only downside was the window piece doesn’t fit snugly and leaves gaps but that is where tape comes in handy. Used leftover painters tape.

I wasn't expecting it to be as loud as it is. Don't get me wrong, it works, it cools the room down, but it makes such loud noises like its trying to break apart. The package came banged up so maybe its damaged, but I was to tired to go through the return process all over again and try to buy another one. If you don't mind the sound of metal clicking or loud kerthunks anytime it turns on/off, it works fine. Does what its suppose to as far as I can tell, hasn't seemed to drain any water at all yet which is somewhat worrisome, but no issues other then the noise levels.

I was afraid of spending too much, having been frustrated with previous similar products. But from 1st start till now, I am very happy with this purchase. I only have used COOL MODE so far, both max and low power. Very happy. It does vibrate a little at max, but assume is normal and if put something next to it, it eliminates the extra noise. But never the noise is "annoying". I'm glad I made this purchase, someone who suffers from heat and sweat more than most. I sleep so much better now.

I bought the 9000 BTU. It’s pretty powerful and seems to be quieter than other more expensive brands such as Midea. The best part about this unit is its size—it is compact, doesn’t look like a gigantic block in my living room, light, and easily wheeled. My only complaint is that the window panels didn’t fit my standard apartment window size. I have made do with a piece of foam and strong water proof tape. Overall for the price, and my sensitivity to sound, I love it so far.

My wife and I live in Florida, so air conditioning is practically a necessity year-round; and especially during the non-winter months. Our house has central air conditioning (actually the way the house is configured we have a total of four A/Cs). But being electro-mechanical devices they are prone to break down now and then. This seems to happen on the hottest days for the most part. That's why I ordered this Ivation Compact Portable Air Conditioner - as a backup when one of the home's A/C's goes on the fritz. The unit has a fairly small footprint, but it still pumps out 9,000 BTUs of cooling power. I wanted to make sure it was in good operating condition, so I measured the air temperature flowing out of its front louvers. I read somewhere that the air blowing out of an A/C unit is supposed to be between 14 and 20 degrees below ambient room temperature when it's operating properly. According to a digital thermometer that's always seemed pretty accurate to me, the room temp was 74.3°F. I placed the thermometer directly in front of the louvers and measured 52°F, so it looks like all is well. This unit can not only cool, but also has a simple fan function if all that's needed is to move the air around in the room. Additionally, it has a "drying mode" which doesn't cool the air, but does dehumidify it, which can be useful when it's not very hot but still humid. The unit rolls around very well on its casters - very smooth and silky. Included in the box was a remote control for selecting the different modes, setting the timer, adjusting the desired temperature, and other functions. Also, MOST of the parts that are needed to vent the warm exhaust from the A/C outside are included. There is an expanding window insert that adjusts from about 26.5" to 50" wide (or tall, depending on whether you have windows that open up or that slide side to side), a corrugated expandable exhaust hose that extends to almost five feet in length, and the fittings needed on the A/C and Window insert size to connect it all together. NOT included is any kind of weatherstripping, so if needed for your particular installation you'll need to obtain that separately. Rounding out the box contents is a short length of flexible hose for draining the condensation and an instruction manual. The Energy Usage chart attached to the outer box shows an estimated yearly energy expenditure of $90 to operate this A/C unit. The combined energy efficiency ratio listed is 6.7. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed that this A/C unit does not have a removable condensate tank. I'm not sure if it's a self-evaporating unit, but if so, then I would think that this would be touted in the Product Ad as it would be a great feature. Furthermore, there is no window into the tank - only a code that displays on the control panel when it's full. The instructions mention that if you get the full tank code on the display, that the lower drain fitting should be removed to drain the liquid. I personally would much prefer to remove a tank and dump it into a sink, toilet, or outside vs. carrying the entire A/C unit and removing a fitting to drain. Maybe they don't make A/C's that way any longer... Other than that, however, I really like this portable A/C unit. I know that I will FULLY appreciate it the next time one of our home's A/C units goes down and we are waiting to get it fixed!
