  • Works well
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft W/ Pump
Using this to dehumidify a 2000 sq. Ft. Basement. So far it has worked great. Using the included hose, the unit is able to pump the water to a utility sink for drainage. Our basement has a concrete floor and so it’s easy to notice a small (half-dollar sized) puddle of water under the point where the unit connects to the hose. The puddle forms sporadically so perhaps it has something to do with the pump shutting on and off. It’s not enough water to concern me, but if you had wood or carpet you might want to set the unit on some kind of flat platter for peace of mind. It may be that the hose connection is loose, but given it a specialty piece and I’m uncertain about how to replace should it break, I’m not spending time trying to force the hose to fit tighter. After just 3 days it was able to bring the relative humidity from 80 to 55 with the temperature remaining at 70 degrees and so I am very pleased with its performance. It’s not particularly loud — not at all audible on the main floor (older house with no sound dampening). The unit puts out warm air but that’s the nature of beast. I’ll update this review once we’ve used the unit for a few months. So far — happy with purchase. ... show more

  • Efficient dehumidifier
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft W/ Pump
This unit is heavy, easy to assemble and operate. I have not had it long enough to evaluate its energy consumption. There is a significant, low , but not annoying hum to this unit, it is not silent, but what do you expect from a unit that is cooling, condensing, and expelling moisture from a damp basement? My house is 100 years old, built near or over an area that has, according to old maps, runoff from a hill called Mount Tabor, here in Portland, Oregon. Previously, if you left a cardboard box on the concrete floor, the area under the box would be damp, and eventually the box would be damp also. So the concrete floor is always “exhaling” moisture. The unit is set to 40% humidity and has not shut off since we plugged it in 3 weeks ago. I have it draining directly into a floor drain and have observed a steady trickle every day. The basement feels warmer, not so boggy and clammy. It seems to be a good value for the work it’s doing...I have a ground water issue, not a leaky basement which can be fixed, so the dampness is a constant. I can live with the hum if the basement is more livable. ... show more

  • Working Great, So Far
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft W/ Pump
I ordered this to replace another unit that was only 3 months old before it died. I ordered this with the refunded money from the first one. It was easy to set up, the pump works well and it controls the humidity very well. I would give it 5 stars but its too soon to see how long it lasts

  • Fan failure just after 2 years and only 2 hours of daily use
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft W/ Pump
It’s as if the fan cage itself spun itself apart. I took the unit apart to remove what I thought was something dropped into the top of the unit causing the fan to loudly click against the obstruction. What I found was this plastic part that was once part of the fan cage. I reassembled the unit. However, the same loud clicking occurred again. Obviously, the fan blades themselves, now without the outside support structure, are hitting against each other as they spin causing the noise. This simply should not fail! It’s a poor and weak design. The unit was purchased for use in our master bath. We enjoy hot showers in a large bathroom with a vaulted ceiling. All that moisture collects in a small location at the top of the vault. We only run the unit during showers and baths and for a short time after, accumulating about 2 hours per day. The unit has done a great job, until now, of quickly reducing the humidity and drying the ceiling. The paint is in near perfect condition even after 18 years. This is a simple part that should not fail. This was the 2nd time disassembling the unit. The first was to clean it and make sure the drainage area was free form dirt and mold/mildew. Several other structure pieces have also broken as shown in the 2nd photo. The unit did its job well. But, the plastic structure and case is very cheap and fragile. ... show more

  • As long as it lasts long term i consider it perfect
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft W/ Pump
This thing is a beast! I set it up in my basement which is in the 700sqft range. I had a smaller 35pint GE dehumidifier that couldnt seem to get the job done so I replaced it with the 70 pint Ivation unit. Just to compare, I set up both units, emptied the old one and started them at the same time. 10 hrs later I went down to check on them. The new 70 pint Ivation unit already had a full bucket and had shut off! The old unit (which isnt more than 6 yrs old) was still chugging away and the bucket was only 1/3 full! So now i knew the new unit was going to solve my problem. I emptied the new Ivation unit and kept it running. The bucket fills up 2-3 times a day and this unit REALLY moves the humidity numbers. Im generating so much water that I hooked up the hose to the pump and now it automatically pumps the condensate into a drain so I dont have to keep an eye on it. Initially to get the humidity down the unit does throw a decent amount of heat and will raise the temp in your space, but heat is better than humidity right? But rest assured, once it reaches the set humidity level and is just maintaining, your space will not be much warmer than normal. Based on several weeks with it, I would definitely purchase this unit again. Its simple, effective, yet has thoughtful features and seems substantial in quality. I hope it runs for a number of years. ... show more

  • Pump is working very well
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft W/ Pump
Is a little noisy like others we've had over the years. Rolls well to different locations. It has an energy Star rating but we haven't seen our utility bill yet. Does a good job of drawing moisture from the basement. Had to empty the bucket twice a day. Did buy additional tubing & ran it horizontally from one joist to another then vertical down into our utility tub. Easy to get pump running and doing an excellent job of keeping the humidity out of the basement without the pain of emptying the bucket all the time. We had 2 dehumidifiers go out in 3 years! So I did pick up the insurance (4 year plan) for this one. I'm hoping this unit lasts longer than our last two. ... show more
