    • Just One Thing Wrong
The tool is great! I have many uses for it in all kinds of projects that may require pinpoint carving and cutting that some chisels can't do. The heft and feel of it are very comfortable, and the wood for the grip is of very high quality and smooth to the touch, but not in any way interfering with a safe grip and is fitted well. I appreciated the supplemental email describing the proper sharpening technique. However, the so-called "sheath" that comes with it is flimsy beyond belief. Placing the blade in it cut the stitching with one stroke, rendering it useless. The plastic cover for the blade is more rugged and protective than that sheath. No type of knife, or what is termed as one by the manufacturer, should be kept in anything but a well made sheath. A good sheath protects both the knife and its user. A better solution would be a Kydex style type of snap cover for the blade or a complete holster, to safely carry the entire tool, and also have it handy, it would be a great addition to a professional's tool belt, and I would have gladly paid more for that type of accessory, to protect such a fine, well made, and very sharp cutting tool. ... show more

    • A bit heavy and unwieldy but functional
The tool has a lot of heft to it and is not the most ideal for marking your projects - it is a little unwieldy. However, it did come well finished and sharp from the factory and marks just fine. Included is a heavy plastic guard that goes over the cutting section, and a leather tip sheath. The sheath does not actually snap closed on the cutting tip, however - it is too small. This is my first marking knife, so I chose to go with this one because of the brand. I have purchased flush cut, and pull saws of the same brand. Based on the quality of the saws I've been using over the years, I was more comfortable with taking a chance with RUITOOL versus other brands within the same price point. I was more happy than impressed with the quality since it was my first marking knife. I will share that the overall fit and finish is on my quality scale would be 8/10. The blade is super sharp and seems to be of good quality high carbon steel. The handle is nicely shaped and finished, the wood species, I don't know. The sheath can certainly be improved, although its functional, I suggest a better designed sheath or case would be great. I would recommend the knife for first timers like myself and as a backup for those with more experience than myself with marking knives. ... show more
