Description

Iron filings are great to experiment with magnetic fields. Place a magnet under a piece of paper and shake the filings on top. The filings will reveal the magnetic field lines. • Better than JB Weld
Mix it with super glue like you would epoxy, and it makes a strong bond. You need to work relatively quick. There are YouTube videos. It's strong enough your able to take a grinder to it.

  • The magnetic filings will be attracted to the magnet while leaving the very fine sand-like power behind
Used this product for science experiment. The initial testing reveled unexpected result with used with magnets which gave promise to the experiment. Also, expect to see a sand-like residue that is not magnetic. Pour some filings onto a white paper plate, but a magnet on the bottom and move it around. The magnetic filings will be attracted to the magnet while leaving the very fine sand-like power behind. I have not found a use for the residue yet, but non important. This majority of this product, 99.9% is very well worth the price and wait. More experiments to come. You may want to order 5 pounds at a time because 1 pound just was not enough when we discovered what can be done. You may soon discover other creative observational experiments you can do with this. ... show more

After seeing mixed reviews, I wasn't sure if I should purchase this, but I went for it. My container of iron filings is an accurate pound. It came in a bottle (the bottle looks similar to those you would buy cinnamon or other seasonings in.) The bottle was then sealed in a ziplock bag, then boxed for shipping. I haven't removed the container from the baggie yet, but everything looks secure - shouldn't have a mess when I open it. ... show more

  • Orgonite fans rejoice!
These iron filings are finer than sand! Perfect for making orgonite with when mixed with epoxy resin. You'll get an almost infinitely larger surface area and consequently many more layers than working with the big chunks of metal shavings used in traditional orgonite. It doesn't sink to the bottom of the suspension before curing occurs. I only have my Don Croft style CB bucket 1/8 full and the tower is already radiating powerful chi energy. ... show more

This is a generous quantity of iron filings, though it does include a bit of red iron oxide that gives the product a less than pure black appearance. Still, it is wholly functional, exhibiting a strong attraction to magnets and revealing their field lines admirably.

  • PERFECT FOR MAGNETISM EXPERIMENTS!!
You get a lot of iron filings with this package! Product came in a white plastic bottle with a screw-on lid. The label states there is a contents of 500 grams (1.1 lbs). When measured, the weight came out to a total of 1Lb and 4oz (567 grams), including the bottle. I used this in a science experiment for an elementary classroom. I recommend this to any teacher or educator in need of iron filings for magnetism experiments. ... show more

  • Iron Filings
I prefer my iron filings by the kilo, but this was all the dealer had. The nice thing about iron filings is that you can get neodymium magnets fused to your nasal cavity to keep yourself from inhaling the finer particles. I haven't quite figured out how to scrape off the build-up, but the environment tends to oxidize the material severely reducing it's magnetic qualities. The first step to becoming Iron Man is having iron boogers. ... show more

  • but all was cleaned after a good hand scrubbing
My son and I mixed this with some homemade slime and we now have instant magnetic slime. He loves the way it crawls up and moves around when a magnet is introduced to it. Bottle has four small perforated holes allowing more control when pouring fillings out (like a salt shaker). Fillings are a bit powdery, but all was cleaned after a good hand scrubbing. Eye ware recommended while handling. ... show more
