  • Blue collar wife review
Size: 11.5 Color: Brown
I wanted to give this review time so my husband could give me proper feedback. He is a glacier and works in all weather conditions and surfaces (ie, concrete, dirt, asphalt) these shoes have been consistently durable, the extra protection to the toe are worth the investment for when he’s on the ground his boots are wearing down as fast. 10/10 recommend from a blue collar wife. ... show more

  • Amazing Comfort, Support, and Protection, Plus More!
Size: 11 Color: Brown
I took a while to write this review - there is no sense in writing without giving these a thorough test for at least a month. I work at a large farm that has an industrial complex and a machine shop to process their harvests' and repair the machinery. Technically, there is no steel-toed boot policy, but everyone wears them for safety's sake. I finally wore out my cheap pair of boots; I got what I paid for. I knew I would have to invest more if I wanted something durable and comfortable. After hours of researching, I chose this pair. Also, being out of the middle of nowhere, I chose Amazon for the ease of a return - just in case! Day 1: I removed the little tag the manufacturer put on the laces at the base of the tongue. I have high insteps, and had to loosen the laces quite a bit to get my socked feet into them. Done! Once on, it took me a good 10 minutes to adjust all the laces for optimal comfort and fit. I was a bit late for work! I did notice, however how large the pull strap was. My fat-finger actually fit into the wide loop - which made pulling on the boots so much easier than what I was use to. Oddly, driving to work was a bit of a challenge too. Why? I drive a truck with a standard transmission. I did not have the 'feel' of my pedals that I did with the old boots, especially while downshifting out of corners. I must admit - it was a little disturbing hitting the brake instead of the accelerator or vice-versa. The instant adrenaline rush was well noted! Walking in them on Day One was an expected awkwardness too. They are heavier than my old boots - duh! - and also caused me to take longer strides. Lastly, these added a little over an inch to my height. My pants looked better on me, I felt important, and hit my head way too many times on the beams I have developed muscle-memory to avoid. D'oh! It was a long day, further compounded by the three-pedal problems driving home. Day 2: Again, it took me 10 minutes to get these puppies on... at least I woke up ten minutes earlier in anticipation! I still had troubles fumbling with the pedals and shifting - which is really strange. I have been driving this truck for 16 years and it is truly an extension of my appendages, if not my soul. Even my wife says she would not know it was a 'Manual' because my shifting skills are, 'So SMOOOOOTH'! I digress. It wasn't until I got out of the truck and took my first few steps to notice something different about these boots: they were comfortable! No binding or pinching from leather seams or binding conformations to my feet, felt much lighter, and I had them laced-up with a perfect balance of support, unexpected comfort, and flexibility. I still hit my head a few times, but less than the day before. Also, it was a cold day, and my feet were the only parts of my body that did not shiver or complain! Day 3: I woke up to a rainy day. I stepped in puddles left-and-right, and my feet stayed toasty and dry. Caution: these are oil slip-resistant - not water slip-resistant - and I did slip (once) on the concrete shop floor. I was getting better at putting these on now - at about six minutes because I knew which laces I needed to loosen, and then how to lace up the open ankle/shin lace hooks with the correct level of support I need. And then it happened: I was working in production, and the inevitable, albeit too early in the life of these boots, a heavy object fell and hit my left toe-box. Yes, it left a small mark on the boot, made an interesting sound, and my foot was fine! In summary, day 3 finished checking all the boxes : waterproof, durable, comfortable, etc., and look great too! The only thing I need to change is getting use to ducking lower or wear a hard hat! Over a month later, I still highly, highly, highly recommend these boots! They are perfect! ... show more

  • Solid well built boot that looks to last for some time
Size: 11 Color: Brown
I typically wear boots vs normal tennis shoes most of the time as it fits the custom inserts better I have to get which can tend to run bulky depending on how they are made. I also have to wear business casual at the office so I'm always on the lookout for a boot vs dress shoe that can work in that environment. This pair fit that bill perfectly. What I liked: - Solid build and at least from initial wear this last 2 weeks no issues with construction or quality. - A bit still in the upper ankle on the first day, but that normalized quickly and the boot overall is comfortable. If you are used to a mor traditional 6" boot height, this will probably take some adjustment. I've used both and other than it's a bit stiffer at the top than others I have had, no issues wearing it day to day, driving with the clutch, or anything else - A nice enough look that I can wear it to work and it passes fine for the office. Also would be good out of that environment, but nice to have the boot option for me. What I didn't: - I wish the sole color was not that off white and darker. Brown shoes tend to come in styles like this and more often in a darker brown sole color. I think that the darker brown would have worked better here. Personal preference for me, although the lighter color will be more prone to staining if you are using these out in the field. - I found the tread to be a little thinner than expected. It's there, just not very deep. With the last items above, my personal rating your probably be about 4 1/2 stars, but as that's not an option, I lean more toward the 5 than the 4. Regardless, recommended. ... show more
