This is my first exposure to the Irish Setter brand, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is part of the Red Wing family. I really like my Iron Rangers and other Red Wings so I had high hopes for these work boots as I was unboxing them. The boots fit as expected when ordering my usual size, which is good because Iron Rangers tend to run large and I typically buy a half-size down. But these work boots were right on the money sizewise. They appear to be very durable and the safety toe feels strong and solid even though it is non-metallic. I was able to adjust the laces over the length of the boot to get the perfect fit, but I did notice that the tongue appears to have a lot of extra fabric and leather that when bunched up with laced boots creates a bit of pressure point on my lower leg. I was able to make a few adjustments and the tongue flattened out. Hopefully with wear the tongue will learn that position and not be a nuisance. The only negative I encountered is that the sole is very stiff. Probably the stiffest sole I've had in work boots. I am hoping that's an indication of its durability but that it will also loosen up a little with time. Walking made me feel like Frankenstein's monster at first given how big the boots are and their stiffness. After 5 minutes I had adapted pretty well, so not a big problem, and use will certainly make the situation better. As too looks these are tough looking boots if you like the moc-toe styling. I expect to have a good experience with these boots over a long period of time.

Irish Setter boots are about the best you can get, and these are no different. The high-quality leather, Goodyear welt, and other details all point to a premium build. The non-metallic toe is also a nice touch--especially if I ever need to go through TSA in these! So, quality is top-notch--no worries there. Looks-wise, I was a little surprised at how tall the foot area is. It seems taller than it looked in the pictures. The extra height gives these a real "boot look," though I think a slightly shorter profile might be a bit more attractive. Other than that, they look great and feel extremely well-built. Comfort is a bit tricky. They’re comfortable at first, but after a while, the backs of my feet start to hurt a bit. That’s completely normal during the break-in period, so I’m confident they’ll be super comfortable after a couple of weeks of wearing them for a few hours each day. The only minor disappointment is that the inside of the boots is slightly padded. While that adds comfort, it’s probably the weakest point in terms of long-term durability. My Red Wing shoes have leather-lined backs and will probably last a lifetime. That said, my criticism is extremely minor. These are great boots, they’ll be comfortable after break-in, and they’re built like tanks. Well worth the premium price.

Most work boots are clunky and feel like work boots so it was such a great surprise when I tried on the Irish Setter Wingshooter workboots, and it felt like I was putting on nice shoes. There is no worry about having to break them in with the oil and stretcher stuff. These boots are good to go out of the box! These are made for years of heavy duty use so the price works out. You do get what you pay for with these plus knowing they're going to last longer than most of your relationships! I tested out the water proof as many boots state this, but these truly are. I was able to lug them out in the heavy snow and rain and my feet remained dry the whole time. They didn't even get sweaty inside them which is pretty much the case with most boots. I love the lightweight design as most workboots feel like you've got 20 lbs extra after a hard day's work. These are like a gift to your feet with great ankle support. I cannot recommend Irish Setter boots high enough. They easily rival Timberland's and Brunt.

These are nice boots. Period! I have a bit of a narrow foot so the medium is a bit wide, but so are all of my other "off the shelf" boots. I am not a fan of the "plastic" safety toe, but it is a feature not a bug. Same with the wedge sole. They were comfortable right out of the box. I didn't put them on and do a five mile hike, but just to wear as a work boot, I didn't notice any pinch or rubbing. A lot of people on other sites mention the stitching on the toe being a bit fragile, but I see no problem given my level of abuse. They are not a lightweight boot, but they make no claim that they are. The brand has a good reputation and I see no reason to believe they will not give years of good service.

These crazy overpriced work boots have a weight of 2# each. They have a non-slip sole, but it’s the type of sole which is going to wear-out sooner rather than later. Nice padding on the footbed. Some arch support as well. Non-metallic safety toe. These boots are Made in Vietnam. At the current price of $215. . .They are well over twice the price they should be. Even if they were made in the USA they would be overpriced. But as they are made in Vietnam. . . $215 is highway robbery. Overall I like them, but I just can’t get past the crazy cost.

These are nice boots overall. The sizing is accurate. They have a nice, beefy reinforced toe, and I think my foot would survive an anvil being dropped on them with these boots. The only complaint I have is the lower/sole. I wish it wasn't an off-white color, and that the tread was a little more aggressive. Still, these aren't purporting to be hiking boots, so the tread makes sense given the intended use. They are also very stiff boots. Unlike many boots I've purchased recently, these are going to require some break-in time. They are worth it though. The leather looks great, and they are very nicely made.
