We've used ours daily for 8 years with zero damage or wear & tear. Hell of a deal for $15. I feel like running it over in your car is the only thing that will break it. Got for dry item storage in pantry. Works good so far. Only issue is the top. The part that holds it on opposite of the latch is horrible. It's really a pain to get aligned. I had bought the 30 pound container last year and wanted to get a smaller size to fit on top. This is space saving and the capacity is just what I needed. It was easy to assemble and will be easy to clean. It's good quality but a little expensive. I wish I had bought the 2 piece set in the beginning since the smaller capacity wasn't much less then the 3 times as large container with wheels. The larger capacity worked great but it was a pain for my husband to get down to the bottom to scoop out the cat food. He just kept adding a new bag of food on top of the old food in the bottom. Pouring the last bit of cat food in the bottom of the large container into the smaller container that sits on top will work out much better! I wanted the lid in black to match the other container but it wasn't available so bought the blue lid. I'm happy with my purchase except for the price but if I had been smarter I would have bought the 2 piece set in the beginning but didn't realize my husband wasn't going to finish up the old cat food before adding the new. ... show more

    • Perfect for 8 lbs of cat food

As far as plastic containers go, this is a good one. I bought one a little over a year ago to store my cat's food in. It's the perfect size, I can buy an 8 lb. bag of cat food and it's just the right size to store the entire bag's worth. The latch and hinge are nice and sturdy. The latch is easy to open and doesn't pop open on its own. After 14 months of being opened and shut twice every day, it doesn't show any signs of wearing out. Neither does the hinge at the back. I've even accidentally picked it up by the handle when it was open, and the hinge didn't have any problems supporting the weight. Even though the container was still full of 8 lbs of cat food. So it's pretty good quality for being plastic. Now I've adopted a second cat with different dietary needs and I'm about to buy another one for him. If I ever need to store anything else in 8 lb quantities, this is definitely the first container I'd consider using; seems like it would be great for birdseed, LEGOs, other kinds of children's toys, etc. They look like they stack nicely, too, which I'm looking forward to testing once I have more than one. ... show more

I bought the $9 12 quart size for dry storage of various odds and ends The good: The plastic seems study and of decent quality. Although the container is not as airtight as a vacuum, it seems to be better than a non-sealed plastic container. I'm sure it'd do a decent job at keeping your dog food fresh, as long as you're not leaving it in there for months. The proportions are also quite nice; deep enough to fit a lot of things in it and while also being wide enough to fit a small bag of cat food (in bag). The bad: The seal foam seems pretty cheap, I don't know how long it will hold up. It's not styrofoam, but seems pretty soft and could tear. My seal came with a couple of dents as pictured above. If it ends up falling apart, I may end up putting some Flex Seal in the crevice that holds it as that seems like it'd be much more durable and might hold a better seal. The lid is kind of awkward in that it doesn't open all the way since it's on a hinge opens at about a 100 degree angle. It's removable which is nice, but opening up lengthways is kind of odd, I would have preferred it to open on the wide side. The latch seems loose when closing it, as though it's not really pressing down the lid that much. It just kind of grabs onto the edge and doesn't really snap or click as audibly as other containers I've used. Also the lip around the container is really small, so if you're used to picking up containers by the lip or lid you'll have to adjust. Overall despite the awkward design and rather poor-quality seal, it seems to be pretty good for the money as long as you don't need something that is vacuum-tight. This would be pretty good for storing small amounts of dog for short-term storage. It's great for keeping stuff dry for long-term storage, but it's not perfect. ... show more
