    • Works Well to Keep My Grow Room Air Moving

I use this in my 4x10 grow room to help control the humidity, regulate the temperatures and move some air. I do not use it with a carbon filter as the smell is not an issue for me. I use it with the iPower speed control, which I recommend. I have it on a timer so I can adjust when and how fast it runs based on the readings of the hygrometer in the grow room. As for the noise level, well I have mine in an adjacent room that is used for storage. I have a flex hose that goes through the wall to an intake vent and another hose that goes to an exhaust vent in the window. So being as it is in an adjacent room, the noise level is not something I really notice or care about really. That said, if you were to use it in say, a basement space and were you intend to spend time, the noise level would be fine I think. That is really a matter of personal tolerance. I would say the noise level is "expected". It is a very well made fan though with a smooth operation and it moves a lot of air for sure. It will work very well in a 4x4 room, but I would definitely recommend getting the speed control to help regulate how much air it draws. It also depends on how much you seal the tent/grow space too and how it's vented. I suspect that some people who are complaining about how much air it moves are not providing intake air so the fan in effect...starves for air. I suspect this fan will last a long time and can definitely recommend it for the purpose noted in this review. ... show more

I install it near the duct vent to boost air flow from dryer. It is hard to directly screw it on the beam in basement due to limited room and insufficient beam width, therefore I put it on the piece of lumber first, then I screw the lumber piece on the beam. It is controlled by current switch where a dryer's Hot-wire passes through. It starts and stops following dryer's start and stop. Very convenience. It is running quietly and exhausting efficiently. Because you can buy like six different things on this one page, from fan to ducting, it's hard to know what you're actually reading about in these reviews. This review is for the 4 inch 190 CFM fan. I got it as an experiment to replace a 50 CFM bathroom fan. I expected it to be nearly four times as strong -- certainly twice as strong, at the least -- but it functions about the same and is about as loud even when mounted with straps in the attic above. I'm going to keep it because I hate going up into the attic, but it certainly does not "feel" like it's pulling 190 CFM. ... show more

Fan was always noisy but moved a good amount of air so it was barrable. Roughly 5 months after purchasing and using, it developed a noticible rattle sound, like loose barrings. Three weeks ago, I walked into my grow area and was hit in the nose by a metalic smell. I immediately turned off the fan to prevent worse. Pretty disappointed.     • Awesome fan for bath vent

I purchased this product to replace the standard vent fan in my bathroom. Let me say, this thing blows every bit of the cfm that it says (I got the 4" which is around 200cfm). I cranked the shower as hot as I possibly could and the mirror never fogged and the walls never got moist. My wife does not like the fan on during showers because she gets cold so she only turned it on after the shower and the bathroom was evacuated very quickly (~5 minutes). The install was pretty simple: I cut the 3-prong plug off and wired it to the existing fan's 2-prong electrical connection. The fan is quiet, much quieter than the old 50cfm as50. However, it would be nice if it were quieter but it's blowing 200cfm so what can you expect? Overall great product, easy install, does what it advertises. ... show more

    • Vibration Noise Unbearable

The fan motor itself is not quiet but not unreasonable. The issue is this fan vibrates excessively no mater how you mount it, I tried to muffle, add rubber gaskets with no luck. It shakes the walls and can be heard very loudly one or two floors up. The suction is ok for the price, nothing spectacular but it does move air. As long as you mount it on a rubber mount. It will be quite and do the job. The noise of the vibration you need to isolate it. I mounted it high up from the room and you can still hear it run up. Sounds like a turbo spinning up and when shutting down you can hear it wind down. When it is up and running, you can still hear it, but not too bad. As far as moving the air, it works wonderful and will clear out the room in no time. ... show more
