Looking for a little plastic fan to move a little air around? Nah this thing could kill the family dog as it absolutely pumps air in or out of the room, fast enough to notice it at every doorway. While it's a little noisy (and I mean just a little, it is well optimized), it is purely because of the sound of the air rushing through this thing. The motor makes the gentlest of hums that could barely be heard, but nearby it you can hear the air really rushing around. I have a couple in the basement of my house by where I do wash, and I may end up replacing the 10 feet leading up to and from it with insulated ducting just to try to cut down on the sound a little, but in the room a few feet from it (not insulated yet), i can just barely hear it. In fact I more hear the sound of the air rushing through the flex tube in the ceiling more then the fan it's self. Worth noting a mistake was made and one ended up being in direct weather for about 2 years straight and still functioned. Any time I get a duct fan, it is and will be one of these (in various sizes). The most recent one is being used to vent out a server room with 1 almost full rack, and a 12 is being used to keep a computer room about the size of a living room cool. ... show more

added to a dryer vent hole to help keep the outside air and critters out. Valve flap only opens when the dryer blows out, otherwise it's sealed shut with a foam membrane. Dryer has no problem overcoming the spring tension when it comes on, the unit is galvanized but we'll see how long it lasts with hot moist air coming from the dryer. I purchased this because I recently noticed my dryer was getting moisture in it from outside (humidity). This seems to have resolved the issue and has kept the outside humidity from entering the dryer through the exhaust vent.

I bought this unit and a significantly more expensive competing unit. This one is sturdier by far and it has 2 springs on the flapper vs 1 on the other. The big issue is that neither of them are accurately made so to get a good flapper seal there is a very wide foam gasket the flapper seals against. It seals well but this is a small duct to begin with and I calculate that the big gasket reduces flow area by a whopping 57%! This is a pretty big flaw but I only deducted 1 star because for my situation my fans move too much air anyway. If airflow is too restricted the flapper shaft on this unit is easily removed and I can easily trim back or replace with a more reasonable gasket. ... show more

It does work but you definitely need a fan that's pushing a good amount of air. A lighter spring would have worked better for my application..

I have a number of blowers and this is by far the weakest. I have no way of measuring the volume of air other than hand pressure and perceived volume but this has far lower output than the the 12v 130 cfm purchased the same day from a different vendor. I have a steel cased i-power 4" blower that came with a charcoal I use to remove smoke and other smells (skunks seem to roam the neighborhood here in summer) of the same 195 cfm volume that outputs way far more even with the filter. I can believe it is only 25W - might as well use a 4" desk fan. Don't even try to put a filter on this -- you will be disappointing. ... show more
