In the past few months, we've seen a move to home IPL devices that are considerably higher in power than we've see earlier. Previously, most of these devices ranged from 12-70W. Now we're seeing a trickle of devices in the 90+W range. These are all (so far) high end devices, but the added power is being used to improve performance. In the case of this IPL, it provides a special mode (PHR) that flashes four times per button press, to increase the total amount of light energy applied to the hair. This should result in better results, faster. These high power, high end IPL devices, like this one, are redefining what a top end device in this segment offers. And this one is offered for around a hundred currently (with coupon) making the price/performance ratio very favorable. Among the features this IPL offers: 1) The refractory period between flashes in automatic mode is good, despite high power 4x flashing 2) The ICE cooling/local epidermal cooling effect is appreciably better on this device than on many I've tested. The head remains very cool even during a long use period. This is of significant value if you plan to use this device in automatic mode, where you'll be flashing your skin very rapidly. 3) 4x flashing PHR mode. The IPL provides four flashes very closely together, which should improve efficiency. In the group of four, the first three are lower power, and the fourth is higher in power. 4) Larger Flash window than on many IPL devices, which increases the region you can treat with one flash The performance of this IPL is clearly superior to lower end (and often not lower cost) devices. I have tried a couple of at-home IPL devices before and the main issue I always ran into was discomfort at effective energy levels. The sapphire cooling technology in this device addresses that directly. The cooling head stays consistently cold during treatment and makes higher energy settings significantly more tolerable than what I experienced with previous devices. The 25J triple-pulse output is genuinely powerful for a home device and I started seeing results in the lower leg and bikini area after the third session. The 12cm square treatment window is one of the larger I have encountered in this category and it meaningfully speeds up treating large areas like full legs or back. Full body coverage in ten minutes is accurate if you are systematic about it. The device is light enough to use at arm extension for back of thigh and shoulder areas without fatigue. The build quality feels solid and the flash counter is a useful indicator of remaining bulb life. For both women and men looking at at-home hair removal, the combination of high energy output and active cooling in this device makes it a practical option that gets results without the treatment sessions feeling punishing. It is not painless at maximum settings but the cooling makes it manageable. Compared to professional sessions the cost savings over time are significant, and this device has enough power output to produce genuine results rather than just marginal thinning.

So far so good! I have prior experience using IPL in the past as I have successfully removed all the hair from my legs using a different device but I was never able to effectively remove my underarm hair so that is where I have been targeting with this device in particular. It is very comfortable to hold and the LCD screen works very well. While there is zapping when using, it is much less painful than my previous machine. The temperature also stay quite cool and doesn't get very hot which is more comfortable for the skin. The product also comes packaged so nicely, even going as far to included sunglasses that fold up for easy storage and a razor with an attached suction cup. The rose gold color is also so aesthetically pleasing to me. Keep in mind that this will only work with darker hair so avoid if trying to get rid of light hairs, but so far this has been a great experience and I will keep using

Disclaimer: vine review of an item I requested free* I was unimpressed after using it a few times. I started on the lowest setting and it didn't do anything despite me having pretty pale skin and almost black hair. At 3/5 it did leave some red dots on my skin where presumably it zapped the follicles. The cooling window works, it feels cold on my skin. Almost too cold, but that's better than the alternative. This would have to be an almost every day treatment for as long as it takes, not a once every few weeks thing. In retrospect I probably should have expected this. But I did little research coming into this and the product description sure leads your to believe this will be a much smoother quicker process. I'd it's this finicky for me with pretty ideal skin/hair colors, I hate to imagine trying to make it work on tan skin or brown hair
