My wife lugs this thing into the bathroom and locks the door while in the tub. Its loud enough that we all then have to listen the the 90's cliche bands base line though the door, floor walls ect until the bottle of wine or the water heater has been emptied, whichever comes first. We live outside of town and you can hear this at our neighbors house about a 1/2 mile away. pretty good. It also uses the same squared computer cable that every printer, computer, xbox, most TV's and electrical products use. Nothing proprietary here, It works great daily for 6 months. We also left it outside, brought it to the lake, camping. remodeling, construction. Its probably better than the other one you are thinking about buying. First off, I bought a used one last year around Christmas and loved it so much that I bought a new one this year. The battery actually works now lol and the sound is so much better and clearer. I also wanted to say, I saw the negative comments on this item, to anyone reading this if you buy using the battery will likely be dead, but everything else worked great. Sure there was some wear and tear on it but you're buying it used. Both were a great buy for the price new or used. ... show more

The addition of side speakers to the ION 280 was a great idea. There is plenty of bass and the phone app lets you customize your listening experience too. I was a bit bummed however, because I spent over $200.00 for this speaker and found it at Costco for $100.00 cheaper literally two weeks after receiving mine. Just my luck 😆. This is a nice sounding speaker and the cabinet lights are a great addition too. The battery life is fantastic, we live on a lake and entertain friends often. We have had this unit on 1/2 max volume for 15 hours straight and there were no signs of battery issues. Also, very quick to recharge after long periods of use. This charges phones very rapidly when in use. It’s loud, not only will you enjoy some AC/DC.... you’re friends three doors down will too! 🤟😎. Over all, very happy with the purchase. ... show more

I ordered this speaker new on account of the mixed reviews for refurbished ones. I purchased the speaker for $239. The refurbished is currently listed at $139. I received the speaker and noticed some minor cosmetic defects. At the bottom of the box was an Amazon Renewed insert explaining this was actually refurbished. The speaker works great and does everything as promised. Nice sound, good volume and bass. I contacted Amazon support and let them know they sent me a refurbished product when I purchased a new one. I advised that the speaker was fine and requested a simple refund of the price difference. The agent told me this was impossible, but if I reboxed and shipped it back to Amazon they could issue a refund and I could order again. I pointed out how absurd this was but continued to make no headway. I spoke to a supervisor who offered me a 20% refund and then finally $80 (still short of the actual price difference). We settled for $90. TL;DR: Amazon made an error sending me a refurbished speaker when I ordered a new one and expected me to either eat the ~$100 difference or pack up a giant box, ship it back, and the order a new speaker AGAIN with the same possible outcome. After way too much negotiating for such a simple task, I spent $8 for Amazon’s screwup. Speaker’s great. Just know if you get the wrong thing, and you certainly can, Amazon does NO favors to correct its mistake. ... show more

    • Simple and Effective for Large Gatherings
I purchased in order to provide background music for a party of around 100 people at an indoor location. It was very effective for this purpose. I like the simplicity of the device -- it's super easy to connect via BT, and while you can download the IONIS app, it doesn't really add any capabilities beyond what you can do right on the control panel of the speaker itself. It's great that there is a little close-able compartment on the top, as I was able to leave the old iPhone I was using to stream Spotify inside the box. I was also able to transport the cord in there as well while moving the speaker from home to the party location. The telescoping handle and wheels make moving this speaker a piece of cake. Now that the party is over, I will enjoy having this for our next season's backyard gatherings and activities. ... show more

    • Stopped working after last than 5 hours of battery life.
I bought this speaker at Christmas with plans to use it our Pontoon boat and lake house in the summer. So finally got to use it in May and within 5 hours if battery life (battery still charged) I plugged it in to charge. I came down the next weekend and tried to use the speaker and it would not play sound. The speaker would power on, but would not connect or play the radio. After trying for an hour I got the volume to display, but still no sound or connectivity. Disappointing to say the least. Sounded great when it did work. Of course there is no returns Seller didn't even response to my message. Buyer beware. ... show more

Works as expected! This pathfinder 280 is perfect for our needs. It came when expected with no damage. It is not as high quality as you can get but puts out great sound for the cost. It also comes with two auxiliary inputs and two usb imports. No mic but I’m sure you could use a Bluetooth one if desired. The pathfinder came fully charged right out of the box. We have used it several days for 6-8 hours, my kids have had it outside for two full days, and we have taken it to the motor vue (radio worked great!) for two shows….it is still at 100% on the battery!!! Wish we could get another for outdoor movies. We have had no problems with the Bluetooth so far. ... show more
