  • I've done my research - We have a winner!!!!
Color: Stainless Steel (Model 8928OB)
This has been my first automatic type watch purchase. I refused to dive head first into purchasing, what could be considered a "higher end" brand as my first automatic. Examples include citizens (eco-drive), Seiko, Movado (I have one non-automatic), Bulova (I have two non-automatic) and so on. I'm pinching pennies as it is with the economy as it is. What does someone do when they want a watch for a price that won't break the bank, looks nice, functions well, and you can see yourself wearing it frequently? I rarely wear my Movado or Bulova's - matter of fact, I put those in a safe years ago. I only wore them with business suites etc. As daily wear watches, I've bought throw aways over the years. Casio digital watch, timex, no brand names and hell, even a smart watch (which I rarely used to it's full purpose) Enter the Invicta Pro Diver **Pros** - Watch Feels Solid - The band feels like good construction and so does the watch - Band is not loud - I can't really describe what I mean by this but some watch band links "cling" together when you move or the watch moves. Like it's cheap and loose. Not this band. It's solid. - Looks great - The colors on the band, dial, and so on really pop - Keeping good time - It arrived active already - I set the time last night, right to the second, and so far it's right on the money (I used my desktops windows time to nail the seconds down) - Higher end movement - I did a lot of research on the Seiko movement (NH35A) and according to some online sources, this is a 40.00 dollar movement by itself. - Water Resistance - I was looking forward to having a watch I could wear at all times. Even in the shower. Something as trivial as needing to take a watch off to shower and put back on after is annoying. I showered with it and (**important** make sure the crown is screwed down and tight to turn clockwise) I have no issues to report **Cons** - Clasp Quality - The clasp feels solid for the most part. I could foresee it wearing down over time. Kind of why I've decided to rarely, if ever, take off the watch. I'm not too worried about this. - Does not glow in the dark very well - I don't really know much about the science behind luminous but I can tell you that I'm simply not able to tell the time in the dark. It does glow but not bright enough in my opinion. - Invicta Branding - Some may have no issue with having an "Invicta" engraving on the bezel and the Invicta symbol on the second hand. Some may find that tacky. I personally don't really care. **Take Away** I'm happy with my purchase. I paid 74 bucks (I'm including taxes etc. in that price) for an automatic watch that functions well, looks great, is solid built, and will accomplish what I had as an end goal for buying my first automatic watch. Time will tell (pun intended) how well this watch holds up. I'm not a very daily active person. Meaning I work in an office setting. Not much going on that could cause any sort of issue for the watch. I am active during the week and on the weekends going to the gym etc. I plan on wearing the watch throughout all of those activities. I'll definitely be putting the watch through its paces. If you're just getting into the automatic side of watches, in a market saturated by countless brands mimicking other brands, and where a decent name "high end brand" starts at 150.00 (for really bottom barrel automatics) , to better looking name brand watches priced 300.00 to 500.00 , and you're wanting to save a buck, I think you'll be happy buying this watch. It checked most if not all my checkboxes. For the price and movement quality, you simply can't beat it. ... show more

  • Very nice watch.
Color: Stainless Steel (Model 8928OB)
This is a really good watch. Wears well and keeps accurate time. Looks great! Only gave it 4 stars since the luminous dial loses luminosity quickly.

  • No Better Watch for the Money.
Color: Stainless Steel (Model 8928OB)
I received this watch about a week ago, and I want review it with my initial impressions. I also plan to update this review as necessary in the future. First things first, I want to avoid comparing this watch to a Rolex Submariner as much as possible, but for some obvious reasons, that won’t be entirely possible. The Pro Divers look nearly identical to Submariners so that is the primary reason that a Rolex comparison cannot be entirely avoided. But realistically, I doubt that anybody in the world has ever narrowed their purchasing decision down to a choice between a Rolex Submariner and an Invicta Pro Diver. I bought this watch, not instead of a Rolex, but rather because I aspire to a Submariner. My Dad has a Rolex, and let’s be honest, the Rolex Submariner is a far superior watch in every way. Simply put, a Rolex Submariner is 10 times the watch that a Pro Diver is. But, in defense of Invicta, a Submariner is 100 times the price of a Pro Diver. I think that any further comparison of the two watches is kind of pointless. My first impression of the watch is that it is very high quality for the price. The case is stainless steel with a screw-down exhibition back. The band is very sturdy with solid stainless steel links. However, the end links are hollow but I don’t see this as compromising the bracelet very much. The clasp is adequate, but I don’t feel that it is up to the same standard as the rest of the watch, it feels a little cheap by comparison. All in all though, it is a very sturdy watch. The bezel feels to be very good quality. It is 120 clicks but it is a bit stiff. That is not such a bad thing for me as I doubt that I will ever do any serious diving with it. The screw down crown is pretty good and definitely seals the case well. I have showered with this watch and submerged it in a couple feet of water with absolutely no problem. I see no evidence of water inside the case. I doubt that I will shower or swim with the watch too much as I am not sure how the gold plating will hold up to soap or chlorine. On that note, the gold plating seems pretty good but only time will tell how durable it is. When setting the date and time, I will say that the crown feels a bit gritty. But again, for the price I am not really complaining. The crystal is pretty good and the cyclops is OK. Not very dramatic magnification, in fact I could do without the cyclops altogether. The movement is a Seiko NH35A, 24 jewel automatic. I am not very familiar with this particular movement but I have read pretty good reviews. My experience with it so far is that it is extremely accurate. After a few days I have found it to be within 2-4 seconds per day of the atomic clock. The first three or four days I noticed that it was dead on all day while wearing it, but at night when I took it off and placed it on the dresser it would pick up about 4 seconds. Now, after about a week, it remains dead on all day while wearing it and only picks up a second or two at night. I understand that the mainspring needs a little time to “break-in” and I suppose that is what is happening. Even if I had the movement calibrated I doubt that it will get any closer than 2 seconds a day. That kind of accuracy for an automatic movement is pretty good even by high end Swiss standards. After one week my assessment is this: For less than $100 you are not going to find a better watch! It seems durable and utilitarian without sacrificing aesthetics. It is stylish and gets compliments without being loud or ostentatious. I really have only good to say about this watch and this is mainly due to its quality to cost ratio. If this watch cost $1000 this would be a very different review, but at around $100 you will not find a better watch! Update: I have been wearing this watch, on average, about 4 days per week for about four years now and I still only have positive things to say about this watch. It has held up very well both in terms of functionality and appearance. ... show more
