  • Pretty Good, Not Great
Size: 6-Person / Tan - Round Style: with Energy Efficient Cover
I ordered this spa to gain a hot tub without having to spend $$$$ thousands $$$$ to do it and this was a success. It's a decent working spa for winter that I can pack away in summer to free up patio space. I ordered it from Amazon directly (not 3rd party or fulfilment) but the box arrived totally beaten up (see photo) so I was concerned with its' size and weight that once I unbox it if it were a damaged item then I'm stuck trying to package it all back up and ship back for return (ugh!) but it turned out to be fine. A different Intex insulating cover was in the box, black instead of tan, and doesn't have the male end clips to lock into the female end clips attached to the tub body so not lockable as is specified but this cover comes all the way over and fully down the sidewalls of the tub so provides better insulation then the normal one which woukd just cover the top and only come down just to the level of the lockable clips so I'm not complaining. Everything has worked fine, would prefer it come with a multi color LED light installed like some other Intex models do but I added a suction cup after market one on my own. The only big knock would be that the unit took 26 hours to first heat the initial tap water fill-up to 102 f (Bay Area California in early November so not freezing temps outside), and once temp was 97 f it was about 2 hours to gain each degree thereafter so heating takes longer than desirable but remember it's only a 120-volt unit plugged into a normal wall outlet rather than 240-volt unit similar to legit built-in spas. The cover does a great job insulating the tub so once heated it is fine thereafter at maintaining temp. For covering up there is an inflatable disc thing (it's seen in 2 of 3 photos) provided that sits floating on top of the water full inside diameter of the tub followed by the insulating fabric cover which also is inflated and so all of that prevents my cat from sinking in/drowning when he jumps up on it, he just walks across it. The control unit has a built in GFI on the power plug, then my exterior outlet has one built in too for redundancy. I spent an additional $100 on chemicals but have learned for the most part some granulating bromide and a floating bromide feeder would have been close to enough, maybe a bit of pH adjustment too for getting started. I'm only using it for winter so I only need about 4 months worth of water which can be done with moderate water treatment if not changing out the water or with less chemicals for treatment if doing a change-out or two of the water in winter. "6-person"...not really. Nice for 2, cozy for 3 with some minor inadvertent footsie, 4 can get in there but then definite footsie, 6 people would have to be kids who take up less space and don't care about footsie. Noise level is pretty quiet when just running the heater, but inflating the tub and cover is definitely not for late in the evening if next-door neighbors are close by, and then running it with bubbles turned on isn't as loud as inflation but certainly not as quiet as just heating...probably want a good relationship with neighbor next door if running bubbles long and probably can't late in the evening. 4 STARS. Not 5 stars because the unit takes awhile to heat up water and because the tub doesn't come with a light. But not 3 stars because it's such an affordable alternative to having a real spa get built in...and it can be easily packed away for the season whereas built-ins can't. The product is too inexpensive by comparison and so easy to setup and use to knock the rating down to 3 stars. ... show more

  • So far so good
Size: 4-Person / Slate Grey - Octagonal Style: with Energy Efficient Cover
Spa seems to work as advertised out of the box . Intex has not been the best to back up their products warranty in my experience . Still purchased this product as this will be the third spa from them so far . Spa is good for about three years of use if I go on my last two owned . Three years for $400.00 isn't too bad I guess . Purchased on sale and energy bill goes up about forty dollars a month in the spring and summer . Gets stored in the winter as keeping it going when the temp gets to 45 F or less is not worth it . ... show more

  • So far So Good - with questions/ discussion point
Size: 6-Person / Slate Grey - Octagonal Style: with Energy Efficient Cover
Have had it now 10 months . And - admittedly; I have truly enjoyed it. I would advise owning a dozen filters and keeping them rotated every use. It really helps maintain the water quality and chemical balance . Have had it outdoors and indoors . A delight. In retrospect - unless one just HAD to hide their unit in a super tight space ; I would never advise anybody to get a four person unit. Mine - a six person unit only ever used by me ( 5’11”) is just enough to feel big enough. MY BIG QUESTION : ( ## and please feel free to respond to my review or comment yourself upon THIS ISSUE ) After running a few days - it became very apparent that the second further filter unit within the hot tub does very little to nothing -as far as providing any suction or filtering for the entirety of the hot tub. So immediately, I thought that my hot tub was faulty, or that the draw of the filtering system was damaged or reduced in a way that the water was not being filtered properly. That said ; upon monitoring your chemicals and changing the filters - my water DOES stay clean and fresh. But it is markedly obvious that the second filter does not do a 10th of the job at the filter closest to the motor actually does. The actual paper filter that you were use in the second filter housing almost never, if ever needs to be switched out due to such lack of suction occurring. This bothered me so much that I called Intex one day to speak to their customer service line. Just to make certain that I did not have a faulty unit and needed to return it. As one can discover here amongst the comments speaking with the Intex customer service line is an endeavor That very rarely produces great customer service experience. The young woman I spoke with last September, or October assured me that the only reason that there was even a second filter within the unit was solely based on California’s safety requirements of having a certain number of filters within hot tubs of a certain quantity of water held within. *** now….. it would seem that to mean that those filters should be operationally working, the same if a requirement. But that is definitely not the case here. So, if what she told me was true; the second filtering unit is just a ruse as a means to produce the hot tub in California and sell it therein. So my question to the rest of the owners out there is this; does your second filter system do nearly nothing as well? And here again; my system seems to be working fine, and the water is able to be kept clean. I really do enjoy my Intex hot tub; but I have to believe that it has a shelflife somewhere less than 10 years. I just wrote that with my fingers crossed. ... show more

  • Did not get all I ordered and paid for, however, the spa itself is good!
Size: 6-Person / Slate Grey - Octagonal Style: with Energy Efficient Cover
The Spa is solid and works well, however, the heater is not good, it is too weak! The worst part is that Amazon did not send me the spa as ordered, somehow, I feel I was duped because the spa brought a long cover instead of the one in the pictures as shown, that clip to the side of the spa. This meant that it became really, really inconvenient to cover and or uncover, it was heavy, and not manageable at all! I asked for a refund, Amazon was really good about that, and I received a refund for the cover, they knew what they had done. I hope this is not a common practice to send the spa with the wrong cover! I used the better part of the last 3 months trying to source the right cover from Intex and or Amazon to no avail! So, for that reason, I think this Intex product is terrible, and a terrible practice on both Intex and Amazon to replace things without giving you a chance to accept or decline! ... show more
