Using the device is straightforward. It has a sensor that automatically checks my skin tone and adjusts the light intensity accordingly, which adds to my comfort and confidence during use. There are also two ways to use it: an automatic mode for larger areas and a manual mode with five adjustable intensity levels, which I find useful for different parts of my body. Generally I use light intensity 3. It can be used on most body areas, which is very convenient. The seller's claim that it is "suitable for use on ALL body parts except the area under the eyes," does not match the user manual that came in the box, which lists certain other sensitive areas that it should not be used on as one could imagine. One of the most encouraging aspects is the promise of quick results. I definitely had visible changes in two weeks on my upper arms, with significant hair reduction within a month when used as directed. I plan to keep using the product until the end results are fully realized. The device itself looks futuristic and is easy to use. The included glasses are pointless as they are too dark to see what I am doing so I end up looking under them, which ultimately did nothing to protect my eyes. It is easier to do a long blink when I hit the trigger. I do appreciate the safety feature that does not allow it to flash unless close to the skin as I hit the button accidentally many times when repositioning. It is definitely easier to use with a partner to aim and place for hard to reach areas and ensure proper placement. Over all I recommend the IPL system over traditional hair removers as it is near permanent and pain-free compared to caustic creams, waxing or other hair pulling methods and even shaving that can cause nicks and cuts. The price is also a great value. However, the inconsistent characterization of where it can be used between the seller and user manual cost this review a star.

I started professional hair removal in 1986 to remove hair on bikini line and then again in 1988 using electrolysis to remove facial hair. It wasn't until 2000 that laser hair removal was available where I lived and let me tell you, it was EXPENSIVE. Fast forward several years of treatment until 2015 when I purchase my first home laser treatment device. The prices have come down, during the last 10 years, on these home units, but was surprised to see the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) System by Gleamwaves for under $100. This IPL device utilizes cutting-edge red-light IPL technology, with a 600-1200nm wavelength that penetrates deep into hair follicles for more effective absorption. Because I have so much experience with the hair removal process, I know how important it is to read all about the units operation and safety features before using. It is recommended that I use the device 2-3 times per week during weeks 1-4. Then, 1-2 times per week during weeks 5-8, and then, once a week during weeks 9-12. After 12 weeks, switch to maintenance sessions once a month if needed. In no way can I give a final recommendation in less than 4 months. I plan to give my update in 4 weeks because the clinical tests show visible results of up to 96% hair reduction achieved within 4 weeks. So I should be able to see some progress with the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) System by Gleamwaves. Five stars for a good start with a well made unit that includes good instructions, the LED light works well, the dark glasses protect eyes, and unit is easy to use. August 2025 update: Hair on top of feet is stubborn. Still working on black hair but getting finer. Hair on legs about 20% reduction. I have patience and still use twice a week, full power. UPDATE: Gleamwaves IPL system quit working. Green light doesn't flash and It could just need a new cartridge but I cannot locate. Send question to company. No reply as yet.

I gave this Gleamwaves Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) System to my friend and she was really impressed with the results. After just two weeks of using it, we both noticed a significant reduction in hair growth on her legs. The automatic skin tone sensor made it super easy to use, adjusting the intensity for her skin skin type. So I'll give this device a bit of a high review, though I've never used any other IPL devices and am not sure how others might hold up against this one. I haven't been using this regularly enough or long enough to really tell if it's doing a bang up job of permanently stopping hair growth but for the short time I have used it it does seem like some of the hair is coming back either slower or thinner or both. It's only suitable for certain skin and hair types, works best on dark and thicker hair as well as lighter skinned people. I'm not sure about the strength of the device, I put it on the highest setting and it doesn't really seem like it's all that high of a setting for being the maximum. The hair singes a bit but it never gets hot enough to burn me at all. I'll continue using it and hope for the best!

I've been using this device for a couple months now and so far, I'm not really seeing much improvement. The device is easy to use and feels comfortable to hold. The pulses are not painful or hot at all.

Some IPL's are painful this one however is not. It is very easy to operate and comes with protective eyewear. Charging it is easy to do and then once it is charged, using it is just as easy. It has 2 modes and can be used on most parts with body hair. I would recommend this product if you are tired of shaving all of the time. This IPL leaves your skin feeling smooth.
