  • Excellent CPU for the price, but somewhat specialized.
I knew going in that this CPU has a reputation for high temperatures, and that there was a famous bug (which was fixed) that damaged or destroyed some 13th and 14th generation processors. Neither of those things has been a problem for me. I updated my motherboard with the latest bios before installing the CPU, that way there was no risk of being affected by the bug. I also went water cooling which has kept my CPU at about 35c under normal use, and 70-80c under heavy load. Performance wise, this thing is a beast, but it's somewhat specialized. It's truly exceptional at multitasking, but "just" excellent at gaming. This makes sense: it has 24 cores, but it doesn't have the cache of something like a 7800x3d (which only has 8 cores). At anything multitasking, this thing is unreal. I sometimes run really intensive programs and then forget that they're running in the background because you can't even tell because the foreground applications are still running at full speed. If what you do is heavily based around multitasking, then there's probably not a better chip that money can buy, but that's a very specialized need. I bought it because I wanted the 24 cores (there's just something cool about having 24 cores) and because my main use case is productivity rather than games, but that's a pretty specialized need. In gaming, this thing actually also excels, but just looking at the benchmarks, it can't quite keep up with something like the 7800x3d. So if your use case is entirely or mainly gaming, you should get the 7800x3d instead. Still, I don't want to downplay this thing's gaming performance, because it does have really excellent gaming performance. It just can't compare to the 7800x3d. So if you use your computer mainly for gaming then this processor might not make sense for you, even though it does do really well in games. During normal household type use (web browsing), this thing is only a bit faster than any old CPU, so again if you mainly game, you're unlikely to notice the speed difference outside of games if you go with a 7800x3d. On the other hand, if what you're doing is mostly heavy productivity, and especially if it involves multitasking and multithreading, then this thing is going to kill the 7800x3d. This CPU normally runs in the 5-6ghz range. It downclocks to 1ghz when not in heavy use, but its regular state when you're actively using it is 5-6ghz, which is frankly pretty impressive. It's not joking about that 6ghz stuff. Sure, you might not hit exactly 6ghz that often, but you will run at 5.6ghz+ all the time. CPU cooling and power usage requirements are somewhat exaggerated. I use AIO, and I've never seen it go above 70-80c. Granted, I've seen many benchmarks where it goes above that, but for me personally, 99% of the time my CPU idles at 35c, with spikes up to maybe 50c under regular load. I have to be doing something intensive to get it up into the 70-80 range. I am using AIO, so you might experience something different if you use an air cooler. I haven't encountered any stability issues at all with this chip. Just the opposite, it seems to work great. I even waited to post this review to see if any issues cropped up, but nothing has. There are basically no major downsides to this CPU at this point. The nicest thing about this chip is actually something small: everything is just a bit faster. Everything. Even though each small action might only be a bit faster, the fact that they're all faster adds up to a weirdly much smoother and nicer experience across everything I do. Even using webpages or typing out text is just a little snappier, and it just feels nice every time. The little things matter, they can add up. Sure, it's not mindblowing, but the fact that simple things like moving around a window or scrolling a webpage is just a little snappier makes everything I do on my computer nicer. This is another place where I think this CPU is going to have an advantage over the 7800x3d: I think it's the 24 cores that are having an impact here. So it really comes down to this: are you going to use 24 cores? Do you want 24 cores? Or, are you mainly going to play video games? If you're going to play video games, get the 7800x3d. If 24 cores and 6ghz sounds cool to you, then get this. ... show more

  • Very Good
I mean, according to statistics, this was the best CPU entering 2025, and I can see why. It has zero issues as far as I can see, just make sure your motherboard has the latest micro-code updates for this CPU, and make sure you have very good cooling, because this CPU will run hot if you don't maintain it. Very good for tech enthusiasts. ... show more

  • How the Raptor lake was unstable from the start!
Except from Dear Intel Customer Support. You already got the CPU back. You said you were sending it for test’s. Anyway you said the other option to get a complete refund was to pay something like a $25.00 fee. I don’t want a replacement now. Inform me how to pay that fee as brisk and fast as I can to get a complete refund. And do not send me another Raptor Lake. I never want to see another Raptor Lake. You said you wanted photograph’s of thermal paste. I sent you picture’s. You then said it was “all pin’s and dial’s” and that meant the CPU was not installed correct. The CPU was installed exact how the instruction’s said. The notch went in the exact corner the Intel instruction guide said for it to go. I informed you that the current BIOS for the motherboard was installed immediate at first power up. And the software from intel to fix the “Vmin Shift Instability.” In installed the current 0x129 fix from Intel. I also changed the power setting in window’s to the most power saving mode possible. Nothing helped because the Raptor Lake that was sold to me just self kaput on it’s own. The “Vmin Shift Instability.” Was not on the box or any of the advertisement’s when I bought it. That made me to believe I was going to get a working product for my money when I bought it from Intel’s vendor. I did not get a working product from Intel. And you only some Raptor Lake’s have problem’s. That’s not everybody on earth is saying. They all say all of your CPU’s are kaput for Raptor Lake. I now choose to just get my complete refund back from you. Inform me how to get my money back in full as fast as possible from Intel please. If I get a replacement Raptor Lake, it’s just going to have the same problem’s. And the 12 generation’s Intel CPU’s are more stable than Raptor Lake. But why buy that old thing. When I can get an AMD CPU by just buying a AMD motherboard. And never buying another motherboard or CPU that is Intel compatible. I informed you that the thermal paste dropped in the area where the CPU goes after it was removed by your direction. And had the CPU not been faulty when it was sold me. The Cooler head would not have had to been removed and there would have been no thermal paste dropped in the dial’s and pin’s. I tried to help Intel out by informing you the 12 year old Intel CPU did not have the insertion point vanishing problem. The raptor lake over heated in an hour like in informed you. And then when it cooled off. It started vanishing the insertion point. And it starting down everything in Window’s down very fast. Until it just would not start anymore. So like nothing your best CPU just was not stable. And since you lied and said I installed in wrong. I don’t want to help Intel out anymore. You sent me this email as the most recent email from you. It say’s the “SWR case” is canceled. But you already know that you got the faulty CPU I was sold sent back to you. And you also already have the faulty CPU back in your possession. Conclusion and summary. Please inform me how to pay the price. As fast as I can. To get my complete refund paid back to me fast as I can. Inform me how to get you any information you need to get my money back to me as fast as you can get it back to me. And cancel the replacement of the CPU option. Do not send me back the faulty CPU. I want my money back instead. Thank you if you can comply with my demand’s. ... show more

  • An amazing choice for CPU
Beast of a CPU, have been using it in a digital audio build and it has been tearing through everything I’ve thrown at it!

  • Awesome CPU!
So far so good that this CPU is running smoothly and no crashes and running a perfect speed for my needs of overclocking. Just make sure that you update your motherboard to the latest so the CPU won't overheat cause of the mishap coding that's on the chip.
