  • About the best you can expect on a refresh of a refresh.
I bought 3 of these to build 3 systems at the same time. They all function fine and hit the advertised speeds, when it's not thermal throttling itself. This generation has far less overclocking headroom then previous generations of intel hedt non x299 cpus so hitting that silicon lottery really does matter. Seeing the differences between 3 shows how far this platform had been pushed by intel, as with each chip you expect there to be some variance but these have far more then any of the pervious generations I've overclocked and I've been doing this since you had to change a crystal to get an overclock. Hopefully Alder Lake will be a whole lot better, but this is still a decent cpu for the money. Be sure to use good cooling, even at stock frequencies it does need to be well cooled to keep it under the thermal throttle point and TVB/TAU limits. ... show more

  • Fast, powerful, runs cool on 120mm air
I specifically selected this 10th gen over 11th and 12th gens i9/i7 as I wanted the 10 regular cores. My i9-10900K runs fully unlocked on an Asus ProArt Z490-CREATOR 10G cooled by a Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black 120mm. Boosts to 5.3GHz w/o problem. Tested with Cinebench R23 10 minutes runs, it stays under 85C and then comes back to under 30C very fast. Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress tests stay under 80C. Light load (e-mail, internet browsing, etc) runs at ~7C over room temperature. A 30 megapixels DSLR raw image gets converted in less than 5 seconds. No problem with USB and SATA storage devices (have more than 6 attached). Very happy with this CPU and zero regrets not going with a newer version. ... show more

  • Perfect upgrade for my pc
I was planning to purchase a used i9-10850K but during cyber Monday they had it on sale for cheaper than you can get the one I was looking at used. Making this such an amazing deal. Great performance and was just the upgrade I needed.

Markedly better than my i7.

  • Great for applications that leverage concurrency
For a test, I applied MSI CPU Boost, bringing the VCore to 1.3V. I then ran 10 separate Python3 processes computing the factorial of 2**32, which cannot complete within a few hours (unless you work for the NSA :-). I then monitored the thermals, and found that the cores averaged between 80 and 90 degrees celsius. While this was running, I also streamed HD Video using Google Chrome and performed various other ordinary tasks. Other than the CPU fans running at 100%, there was never any sign that the processor was busy. In my defense, I don't normally run any processor with overclocking or MSI CPU Boost. I just wanted to see how the processor would perform at 5GHz. I plan to run a developer workstation with SQL Database and a lot of other stuff that uses memory and threads. What I really need is memory and concurrency. ... show more

  • Been working great
Solid for gaming, I have noticed a performance boost for sure. Easy install and great quality for the price. 10/10 overall worth it

  • Silicon Beast
Bios cpu mode set to “gaming”, so the chip idles at 4.9Ghz. Think about that for a second, idling at near 5Ghz with one click in the bios. Beast mode. I use a 34” monitor and no matter how much you throw at it, it handles everything. I have modded Minecraft running, twitch, origin launcher, league of legends, tons of chrome tabs, music, whatever, all at once. You won’t even notice a stutter. Yea it costs a bit, but small price to pay to take a dump on AMD chips. Ive been team blue all my life and have never been disappointed. Idle temps at 4.9Ghz are 72 Fahrenheit for me on an nzxt all in one water cooler. Intel also has a tuning utility thats dumb easy to use for overclocking if you want that. Personally I don't need that, I just care about lots of multitasking as I have many things open at once always. Specs are 3600 ram, m.2 and 1000w psu. ... show more

  • what a power house
this cpu is crazy awesome upgraded from a 10700 and in shock of how much it can handle was going to get the 11900k but this has more core's and threads so i was looking for something that i wouldn't have to upgrade for awhile and this was it!
