  • I fixed the issue!
There was nothing wrong with the CPU! My apologies! I guess I accidentally bent a few pins (it is an old motherboard board) and I tried everyday to fix the misaligned pins. Eventually I got it to stabilize but still no signal then I got lucky it finally booted with signal! Its working fine and very snappy compared to the 540 that was in here. Thanks guys. ... show more

  • Upgrade for my system at work
Purchased from a seller offering the i7-870 with Intel stock cooler in OEM packaging. I prefer it that way because it's a little less expensive and I don't really need the pretty box and little booklet with the Intel sticker, anyway. But, if you like that sort of thing, go for it. As soon as it arrived, I popped it in and mounted the cooler (with appropriate precautions, of course), Powered it on and it works like a charm as expected. Upgraded from an i5-750 and I definitely see the improvement. Everything runs faster, multitasking is quicker, basically just doing what it's supposed to do and quite well. ... show more

  • CPU Upgrade - Older System
Brand new in the original box! As old as my PC is this was my only option for a bit more CPU power. Amazing I found one and it was an easy swap!. Working good!

Nice and fast. Was going to purchase the Xeon X3470 or i7-875k but decided to go with this CPU. Saved myself sixty bucks considering I'm going to upgrade mobo and CPU again soon. Gonna see how Bulldozer performs and if it's good I'm gonna buy the Asus Sabertooth 990FX gamer series along with the BD. If it's just hype then I'll wait and see how the next gen. Intel Ivy Bridge performs. All in all, I'm happy with it and it overclocks well thru FSB. Just know the heatsink and fan included sucks complete balls. It's a joke, really. Didn't like the way Amazon packed the CPU... a little CPU box inside a really big box with a budget amount of bubble wrap. When I opened it the CPU wasn't even protected. I was going to be really pissed if it didn't work due to carelessness in packaging but all was well in the end. So, no harm no foul. It's a good buy so if you have a LGA 1156 socket don't think twice. If you have locked bios then you might want to consider the 875k or Xeon so you can OC with multiplier. ... show more

  • Very useful for my old machine
Difficult to evaluate a used product, because although it has not given me big problems or bad signals, it is not known for sure if there is any deterioration of it is what is undermining its performance and maybe that's why I have to disable the turbo mode in the Bios. When I use certain programs at the same time or some that demand a lot from the processor, the temperature goes up to 100 and I do not want to go down. Even after changing the fan and / or heat sink for a better one, the problem persists; there was a slight improvement after the change of 1 maybe 2 degrees but nothing that would let me activate the turbo mode again. It could be a set of factors that is causing this problem and I have not been able to identify them to solve it. In spite of all this, the speed or performance that the 4 physical nuclei and the 4 virtual nuclei give me have been very useful for my old machine. For the price I pay 50.00 dollars, a product that is almost 300.00 dollars new, I do not complain so much, on the contrary maybe I should buy another one in case one was damaged. ... show more

  • Newbie i7-870 owner
Wow ! Running Intel DH55HC m'board , 1156 socket, 8Gb Corsaire 1333 memory , Nvidia GE 9600 so far it's a Ferrari engine in a Nissan body ! Nice to see CPU usage ( Windows 7 Home Pre(x64) ) gadget show'g the 8 cores ( 4 + 4 Ht ).Everything JUMPIN'! Arrived from Amazon on promised date 4/1 , dropped it in, rethermaled with ArticSilver 5 using Thermaltake 4 pipe cooler, inexpensive investment , was concerned about higher heat , averaging 36 to 45 Cel. Used Sculptris ( ZBrush like modeling program ) all cores went to 100% CPU Temp hit 90C, won't do THAT again. Aside from that, Blender 3D, Corel Photo, Cyberlink DVD & PowerDirector 9 , MS Office etc everything's cool Temp's never get over 52C. Booted after installing , received 2 messages to restart ( had to reboot twice ) been good to go since. Not concerned w/ overclocking , my understanding this bad boy oc's ITSELF ! Like a McDonald's commercial "I'm Lovin' It !!!".Using a 550W power supply, 3 WesternDigital HDD's seemingly no problems. Hope this helps. "Just happy to be here !" ... show more

  • I love this thing
I upgraded from a Core i5 750 to this... Day and night to say the least!! I love this thing, i just wish i would've upgraded sooner. I guess i never did because I honestly didn't think the difference would be so obvious. Solid CPU, even in used form. Performs amazingly and overclock great! If you are still on a LGA 1156 then look no further, this is a great processor for your motherboard! Enjoy :) ... show more

  • Slow and Doesn't Support Windows 11
Bought this to speed up my i3 computer and to be able to load Windows 11. It didn't speed up anything. Wouldn't support my on board video card (had to install an aftermarket card) and it doesn't support migrating to Windows 11.
