  • The last of the Monolithic chips.
These 13th and 14th gen chips are simultaneously horrible and great at the same time. They are horrible because of the well known Vmin shift causing degradation. Which (hopefully) has been addressed with microcode 0x12B. We will really only know in the next coming year if that’s the case. Even with all the reasons not to buy Intel, I still invested in a dead platform with a possibly defective design. Why? These are probably the last monolithic desktop chips to ever be made. There is just no replacement for low latency, instant response computing. These will be slower in games and some production tasks, but will still feel faster than anything else on the market for day to day use, by a decent margin. And they will continue to feel superior, for a long, long time. As for my chip, out of the box it wants to hit the CPU with 1.41v when stress testing. Even though that should be fine, even for 24/7 extended use, I still manually changed the IA VR Voltage limit to 1.38v. That brought the temps down by an incredible 20c, making it never break 70c. Setting an IA VR voltage limit is not undervolting, it’s merely telling your motherboard to never go over said limit. So you will likely see a slight decrease in performance for the trade off of having less heat and stress on the CPU. It’s a very easy way for people less familiar with undervolting to make sure their CPU doesn’t fry itself. The memory controller on my CPU is outstanding as well, and I haven’t had an issue running 2x16GB 7600mhz sticks. Just make sure your motherboard is the latest Z790 with an 8 layer PCB if you’re looking to take advantage of Intel’s superior memory support. I’ve very happy with this CPU. I was disappointed to hear Intel will follow AMD down the road of high latency, sluggish chiplet/tile designs in the future. So if you like the feeling of a very snappy, lighting fast PC. These chips might be your last hope. ... show more

  • Best mid range gaming cpu
They had accidentally sent me the i7-13700k but it still plays flawlessly. Had a ryzen 7800x3d but it was very unstable and hot compared to the intel counterpart. Glad I switched back to Intel!!!!
