Style: i5-12600KF
I have three machines for grandchildren to play with, also three Steam accounts, two machines are intel, one 12400f CPU and the 12600kf I just put in to replace 12100f... what a difference! the twelfth generation are so stable and proven runners. I can recommend the 12100f, 12400f and the 12600kf, we play shooter's all the time, I am 79 years old built them and play 'em. ... show more

  • Diamond in the rough Diamond in the rough
Style: i5-12600KF
Bought this for a recent budget build to use up spare parts. Runs like a champ. Punches way above it's weight. I can't believe how cool this thing runs with an inexpensive Peerless Assassin HSF. My main computer is a 265k. It has much more muscle. But it runs much hotter- watercooled no less. This i5 idles a few degrees above room temperature. It barely breaks a sweat in Cinebench, it never gets above 63C. Nice little processor. Intel got it right with this cpu. ... show more

  • The last good LGA 1700
Style: i5-12600KF
The i5 12600KF is not Intel's most blazing fast processor, but I don't consider anything else on LGA 1700 a worthwhile upgrade. The performance/price ratio is just that good, and I don't want to hear any "what about i7 or i9." Until they figure out how to beat the AMD X3D processors, I will not buy a more expensive Intel CPU again. Anything more on an LGA 1700 is just getting into a contest to spend more money. As of writing this in December 2025, LGA 1700 is a dead socket for Intel's future. Even their next socket, 1851 or w/e they call it is planned to be replaced soon. Keep that in mind if building a PC with an LGA 1700 motherboard; there aren't any more upgrades on the way. I recommend waiting, especially with the ridiculous DDR5 prices. That said, I love this thing. I have no issues whatsoever from If you need ultra-high settings at 4K on the newest cutting-edge games as if your life depends on it, you are going to be spending money like it grows on trees and this isn't the CPU for you. The high end i9 processors see better gains in productivity than they do in gaming compared to this, so the bang for your buck drops off. But if you want a CPU for gaming on high settings at 1440P, and Intel LGA 1700 is your choice, make it this CPU. Don't waste lots of money on LGA 1700. ... show more

  • Perfect mid range cpu for lga1700
Style: i5-12600KF
Runs cooler than my 10600k and in multicore workloads can get over 2x the performance. I games it usually gets 10-15% more fps.

  • Actually cooler than a 7700k.
Style: i5-12600KF
Even though it claims to be a 125Watt TDP part, it doesn't reach the temps the i7-7700k it replaced and that was a 65 Watt TDP so I was able to continue using the same Noctua cooler. That's my main takeaway. I can't speak to its performance as of yet, running a LTS Linux desktop distro as a file server and occasional web browser usage. The step up from a 7700k is noticeable, but not greatly for the use case. ... show more

  • Impressive Performance Upgrade - A Mid-Range Powerhouse
Style: i5-12600KF
I recently upgraded my PC's CPU to the Intel Core i5-12600KF from an older i7 6700k, and the improvement in performance has been nothing short of phenomenal. This processor has significantly boosted my PC's speed, making it feel at least five times faster than before. The addition of extra cores in the i5-12600KF is likely a major factor in this performance leap. It handles multitasking and demanding applications with remarkable ease, making my computing experience smoother and more efficient. Whether I'm gaming, working on intensive software, or just browsing, everything feels snappier and more responsive. What I appreciate most about the i5-12600KF is its balance of power and affordability. It's a fantastic middle-ground CPU that offers high-end performance without the hefty price tag of top-tier processors. This makes it an ideal choice for users like me who want a significant upgrade without breaking the bank. In conclusion, the Intel Core i5-12600KF is an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade their PC. Its ability to significantly boost performance, combined with its reasonable price, makes it a standout option in the mid-range CPU market. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to rejuvenate their computing experience. ... show more
