I needed a CPU to cobble together a DDR4 system from existing parts. This was on sale. I normally buy i7 or better but in this case I doubt the extra cores would make much perceptible difference in throughput for what I do with the thing. I was surprised at how fast this CPU seems compared to Ryzen 5xxx. Its running fine on a (largish) air cooler and is supposed to be immune to the Intel voltage curse afflicting 13th and 14th gen parts.
