Nearly 3.5 million dogs end up in shelters and rescues every year, and nearly half never find a home. The Foundation was established in 2008 by Mars Petcare, maker of PEDIGREE food for dogs, to help increase dog adoption rates. We’ve awarded more than 5,500 grants and 8 million dollars to U.S. shelters and rescues that help dogs in need. In April 2020, we announced Disaster Relief Grants for shelters and rescues facing urgent needs in this difficult year. Since then, we've already helped more than 100 shelters. Our regular 2020 grant process is underway as well. We aim to fund up to 30 Program Development grants and another DOGS RULE grant in December. We hope to do even more if we can raise additional funding. All proceeds support our grant program to help dogs find loving homes. Meet Mercedes Sweet Mercedes had been at Austin Pets Alive! for over 800 days when a virtual foster program funded by PEDIGREE Foundation helped. By giving Mercedes opportunities to socialize, and championing her on social media, her virtual foster helped the right family find her! Meet Stevie Stevie was blind and lost when he was found. But with care and love, he has become a beacon of hope. Today he has a loving family and is a canine greeter bringing joy at Cleveland Clinic. His enduring spirit is why we chose him as PEDIGREE Foundation’s 2020 Rescue Dog of the Year. Meet Oakley Oakley was part of the Seniors4Seniors program at PAWS Atlanta, supported by a PEDIGREE Foundation grant. The program waives the adoption fee for senior citizens adopting senior pups, to help homeless dogs get homes and seniors find a best friend. Read more Read more
