The pneumatic impact it goes over is an expensive piece of work, so naturally you'll want to keep it clean and protected. The non-grippy rubber keeps oil at bay as easily as it does dirt and retains it's color nicely. Not sure how they've managed to keep it from taking hold of all the grime on my hands but I'm not complaining. Very fast shipping. I have purchased numerous IR boots in the past and found them to last many trouble free years. They withstand abuse and harsh shop chemicals without degrading. This one does not obstruct tool function and allows access to grease fitting. For added protection I like to add a one inch piece of radiator around the base of the handle as a bumper. Great quality of course with any Ingersoll Rand product. The boot seems to be made of thick rubber and foam material like. Great for shock absorption if you were to drop your impact gun. Would definitely recommend if you want to prolong your tool exterior to look new
