I had been eyeballing couches for a while, especially those modular, “endless configuration” ones all over Instagram. Don’t judge me — I was a victim of marketing. Eventually I hit a point where the numbers in my account said “go ahead,” so I hit add to cart and checked out. A few days later, it arrived. What I didn’t know is this couch takes about seven days to fully “upload.” So if you’re not into day-one patches, proceed with caution. When it first inflated, I was honestly a little thrown off. There’s not much back support — it’s basically a giant slab of foam doing its own thing. My first thought was, “this is not a couch.” But the more I live with it, the more I realize: I was thinking about it wrong. These modular, shapeshifting couches aren’t competing with your $1,700 showroom sectional. They’re a different category entirely. This is a beginner couch. And I think it deserves its own classification. I’m officially proposing a new term: a slouch. Don’t think “couch.” Don’t think “sectional.” Think slouch. Because this isn’t really for sitting upright in a structured, back-supported way. It’s for collapsing. It’s for stretching out. It’s for becoming a human question mark while watching TV. I haven’t tested the full “four people sitting on it” scenario yet, and honestly I’m not sure I want to. But for me and my roommate? It absolutely works as a shared slouch zone. Super comfortable. And that’s kind of the point. This is not your traditional sectional. It’s not built for formal sitting or for your mom with a bad back. But it is easy — easy to move, easy to assemble, easy to get into your home without a moving truck or existential crisis. It showed up in two days. It inflated. And now it exists. At around $400–$430, the real question is whether it’s “worth it.” I don’t know. Maybe that’s a broader conversation about inflation and how furniture pricing has gone completely unhinged. I’m sure you could’ve gotten a full sectional for that price in the 80s, but I wasn’t there, so I can’t confirm. What I can say is this: you need to know what you’re buying.
