  • Great value for the price
This was my first purchase/ intro into the world of night vision and IR. I have had the pleasure to briefly play around with a surplus style night vision monocular, so my experience and exposure is low, but let me tell you this is the best bang for your buck. If you're looking for an entry level monocular then this one is for you. The image is crisp. Easy focus adjustment on the fly for when you zoom in or if it gets knocked around in the carrying case. The lens cover has a tight fit which I love for protection purposes. All of the controls have a good positive tactile feel to them. Once you get the chance to play around, you'll easily know the layout of the buttons. Wide range of selection (color, black, IR, and brightness). With the zoom in feature I love how you can increase the zoom range as a whole value or by incremental value to ensure you're not going from 1x -5x too fast. The bonus is if you live in an urban area, differnet IR settings allow you to drown out the street lights to minimize glare. I have not had the chance to play around with the wifi features yet. The settings menu is easy to navigate and the instructions are concise and clear. Easy set-up and super easy use. I would for sure recommend this to anyone looking to get into the night vision game. I really hope they come out with a smaller monocular that can be helmet mounted with the NVG and IR features as this one. ... show more

  • It Works Well!
First off no, this is not gen3 night vision by any means. This is gen 1 but I and amazed at hoe well it works. Went out one night with a friend that had thermal a monocular looking for different animals in my area. While he could see thing first this night vision monocular was able to identify a few of the animals better than the thermal. I feel like most of the limitations of this are the IR illuminator not the sensor itself. It has 9 different levels of IR brightness 6 levels of screen brightness color day image and black and white day image. the pictures are at night with different distances and levels of IR brightness. the internal screen is good enough but, nothing to be amazed with. Zoom is on the eye cup for optical; I just left it zoomed out, digital zoom is with the other buttons on top but I wouldn't worry about using it passed 2x. Hooking it up to your phone works but is kind of a pain considering you have to reconnect every time you turn it on and it is burred in the menu. One real con is the hand strap is in a stupid location and 99% useless. All in all it is a great deal on decent night vision monocular. I am going to by a separate light to mount to it and see if I get better results at distance. ... show more

  • Internal screen is sideways when mounted or held vertically
I like it, but I'm confused why they mounted the video screen sideways!! The rail mount is on the side and hand hold strap is on the bottom when the video screen is correct!! The night vision is good, with my IR flashlight it is great... out to 250M give or take! Simple to operate, but hard to hold correctly/stable because of the video screen being 90*from how it should be mounted, which is really the only reason for 3 stars! I have gone through the menu looking how to flip the screen and haven't found out how, or if it's possible!! Seems like a huge oversight from the manufacturer, being that I cant mount it or hold it upright to look through it !! ... show more

  • ok for the price
PROS nice image, night or day viewing, multiple ways to power it. record viewing ,nice carry bag CONS it's not 0-5 x magnification, it's a fixed magnification. makes close up use very difficult HEAVY, this is heavier than my old all metal NV scope . very small field of view for such a big objective lense. viewing screen is tiny why such a big IR , night vision is so you can see but not be seen, this IR is A beacon that shouts I'm right here. ... show more

  • It worked , then it didn't.
I really enjoyed it. It worked great. The phone app was a great to share images. The warranty expired and so did it. Now it won't power up. Was the short life worth the cost? Nope. You get what you pay for.

  • Works Great!
Bought this kind of on a whim but I definitely have not regretted my purchase! I was worried that this would feel cheap and not work very good, but its heavy and feels sturdy. Better yet, It actually works! I have taken it on nighttime strolls and have been amazed at how well it can see with just the built in IR illumination. It also has an amazing amount of zoom. The only funky thing is the screen is mounted 90 degrees from how it appears the device should be held. This is not a big deal to me. If you need to see in the dark semi-covertly, this would not be a bad purchase. ... show more

  • Poor build quality
I was able to use this device two times before I put it on the shelf for a few months. It has good night vision capability. Now the device does not even turn on. After placing two sets of new batteries, it still does not turn on. There are no other ways to effectively troubleshoot the problem. Likely could be from poor build quality. If you are paying this much is it unreasonable to expect robust build quality? ... show more

  • Use the App so the whole family can see at night
Works great! The IR brightens everything up out to 150 yards really well. With the moon out you can see pretty good even out to 500-600 yards. I connected to the App which was easy and allowed my family to watch what I was seeing. You can see how bright it makes the vinyl fences stick out down my street, and what the barb wire fence looks like on the app out back of my house in the dark. For the price and quality, I donโ€™t think this can be beat! ... show more
