After working in the car audio business and doing many system upgrades in cars. These speakers are FANTASTIC. You just can't beat infinity speakers for the price. Sure there are better speakers out there for 1000x the cost but these will make your car sound like a luxury car. I put these in my 1999 Ford Taurus along with the infinity 5x7 reference speakers and the small Alpine 4 channel amp (that fits nicely in the stock amp location by the way). I compared sound systems to my friend that has a 2015 Lexus with the stock upgraded sound system. My Old Taurus blew his away and we couldn't hear his sound system over mine! Mine was also a lot cleaner sounding and full range. If you are looking for speakers that sound crystal clear and powerful at all sound levels, you will not be disappointed with these!!!! ... show more

  • An Incredible Value for top quality separates!
These are a stellar deal! Crutchfield sells these for $149.99 ON SALE! They retail for $199.99 !!! This must have been a close out purchase to be able to sell them so cheap! I love these and also have the 6.5" separate components! The tweeters response is silky smooth and transparent with great detail. I run everything FLAT! The woofers can produce nice mid bass, but where I mounted them in my Miata, I can't ask them to produce much bass because the cabinet is so small. I ask the 6.5" to produce great mid bass and low bass too. By thoroughly insulating the Miata NC door, with a knock off of Dynamat, and clogging up any holes that were left from the factory, the 6.5" produce INCREDIBLE bass. I am confident the 5.5" will do a similar job, just not go as deep. Of course you must have the headroom to have them perform to their capabilities, so get a clean amp with tons of power - RMS power - ignore that peak power bullshi%! From a brand name - not this BOSS, Crunch, Pyle crap! Your sound is only as good as the source, so I use only FLAC recordings sourced from the USB input on the deck. Bluetooth, let's be serious! If you want quality sound, you would never consider introducing Bluetooth into the equation - Why?!! In summary, I high recommend both these 5.5" components and the 6.5"...you can see how great of a buy these are as they are over $40 less for the set than the 6.5". You simply never see top quality separate components for this low of a price! Grab'em! ... show more

  • Fantastic bargain. The plus sizing is no joke either.
Excellent value. I think these are on their way out for a new variant but they were a steal at $60. With some eq, they sound great and I’m accustomed to some pretty decent hardware. My last system was a fully active dynaudio set-up and while this doesn’t truly compare, it works well enough and, again, was a bargain. Hey, it’s a wrangler. They do well enough to overcome road noise and sound good at idle. The plus sizing is for real; they’re definitely larger than a standard 5.25” I have these install in a Jeep Wrangler in custom boxes in the front dash location with the tweeters atop the dash. With eq and time alignment, they image well. The tweeters are small and bright and I imagine crossed over very high - something to consider if you’ll be running these in a door with tweeters far away. They don’t handle bass well at all so I crossed them at 120Hz and have midbasses take over from there. I’m feeding them 70 Watts rms/channel (guesstimated at 3 ohms) and, crossed at 120Hz, they handle it just fine. TLDR: bright tweeters, don’t handle bass very well but sound great if you respect their limitations and have a decent eq. Very large for 5.25” drivers. ... show more

  • Amazing sound quality for the price
Best set of component speakers I've purchased so far. After installing sound dampener, foam speaker rings and running it through an Infinity class D amp I have been sold on the Infinity speaker series. The price point for the reference series is unbeatable for the clarity and SQ. Have owned for about 9 months now and they do amazing. Not as much bass from the woofers as some people might hope but they are 5 1/4" after all. They're made for sound quality and can hit the normal bass lines but if you want sub level bass (30-60 hertz) you'll need to add a subwoofer ... show more

  • 75% upgrade in clarity and brightness vs my factory
Incredible Sound! Installed it replacing my factory tweeters and mids running with just the factory amp. 75% difference in clarity and brightness. The highs sound clear and clean. The mids balance the highs. No bass or low end coming out of the mids but that’s not what these are for. These need a sub to pair with. I’m happy with these reference I don’t need the higher end models. 6 stars! ... show more

  • Nice Speakers, but missing a few accessories.
These are good speakers for the price. Infinity speakers usually run a little easier since they have larger cone area, high sensitivity, and a lower impedance. However, this set does not come with grills for the woofers or wires for installation. This means you will need to either buy compatible connectors for the tweeter wires, or snip and splice them like I did. Even though they are relatively inexpensive, I'd still expect at least a length of wire for the tweeters. ... show more

  • Very true sound
I paid like $50 for these 5.25" components and they sound great hooked to my home audio system for testing. I'm building a Bluetooth speaker box that will outshine the store bought ones and cost about $100. Very happy with these although I did add on a 6" woofer to bring out a little more base. These are as good as you can imagine a 5.25" speaker doing but it is what it is and although they are way better than any Bluetooth speaker I've had, I need more bass. ... show more

  • Definitely recommend
I don’t write a lot of reviews, but I ordered the 5.25 component models of these and was thoroughly impressed by their performance. Little bit overkill with a t300.2 on them but they sound extremely good, and it’s hard to believe there is only one set of 5.25 running my entire front stage. Sure they aren’t 8” pro mids but are very good and priced well under what I would pay for them. Ended up with a bad amplifier that fried my first set(100% faulty amps fault), but didn’t think twice about replacing them with the same exact ones. ... show more
