This flat iron is NOT frying my super fragile, fine, thinning hair! There are 30 heat settings, and most people are interested in # 30 (~430F). Per my instant-read thermometer, setting #1 is a very consistent 240F with only one degree of variation across the whole surface. One quick pass over my hair reduces the frizzies. I've had this flat iron for 6 years now and I still love it. I use it daily to either smooth out the night before's blowout, completely straighten for a sleek look, or twist for curls! All 3 pics in this review were achieved using this iron. It adds a nice shine and does not damage my hair (when used with proper heat protectant), nor does my hair get stuck and yanked out like a lot of other irons do. The floating plates allow you to get really close to your scalp and not have those weird lines that always seem to get left behind by my previous iron, a 1" Chi. The only cons: 1) Took a star off for temperature control. I don't think it gets up to anywhere near 455 degrees, or at least not anymore. But that's ok, really shouldn't be torching your hair anyway! Also, the dial has numbers on it from 5-25 so you don't really know what exact temperature you're at. 2) Took a star off for traveling since this is a bit longer than others and not dual voltage. Also ok, since I'll just use my Chi for travel, but if they ever make this in a dual voltage version, I'm buying it immediately. Overall, a super effective tool, EXCELLENT value for the price. The only feature I don't love about this flat iron is the cord. It's cheap and kinks easily. But, for a budget flat iron, I cannot complain. One feature I love about this flat iron is the curved sides... and it also heats up quickly. I have found it to be a great value for the money.

Had this same flat iron years ago in the color purple. Had it for about 6 years before It went out on me. Got the babyliss pro and was not impressed. The babyliss didn’t do my hair any justice. This flat iron lessens the frizz and my flyaways and leaves my hair bouncy and full. Will choose this one every time!!! Way better than babyliss and a fraction of the cost! ... show more

This is a great iron! It heats up super quickly, super simple to use, straightens my hair with two passes. My hair stayed straight for a day and a half after straightening it. I was also able to curl my hair and it worked wonders. Only thing I will say is to be careful when straightening your hair because hair does tend to snag at the tip of the plates. ... show more

My 3 daughters and I love this straightener!! It has adjustable heat settings which is great for us as 2 of us have thin hair and 2 have very thick hair. This straightener heats up super fast, and straightens in one swipe, so it takes very little time to straighten my entire head of hair, which is long. I love the thicker plates so I can straighten bigger sections at once, still only using one swipe. It has a nice grip on the handle to assist with squeezing, it’s super nice, and makes it really easy to use!! TIP: We ALWAYS use a heat protection oil on the last 3 inches of our hair to protect it from the straightening process, it really helps to prevent split/dry ends. ... show more

I’m only returning because I’m used to the conair 1 inch style. This one is great, but maybe if you have a lot of hair. Mine is very thin. I’m getting the smaller one because it’s also easier to make curls if I want to & easier to get those stubborn hair that are growing now.
