I bought this to have a cheap, functioning flat iron at my boyfriend's house so I didn't have to schlep mine back and forth all of the time (and risk forgetting it as I have done in the past!) I have been using flat irons for close to 20 years now, and this one is amazing! I was stunned by how well it worked, so much so that I had to come here to write a review--something I rarely do. I have very coarse, dense, wavy hair, but this iron straightens quickly. Don't let the price tag fool you! The results last longer than the $200 iron I got for Christmas six years ago, although it might also be that one is on its way out and it is no longer functioning at full capacity. I really can't recall. :P One of the reasons I decided on this iron over others on Amazon is that it has the automatic shut-off feature. While I rarely forget to turn off my iron, I have left my old one on at home before. Because of that, some mornings I go into work wondering if I actually did turn it off! It is nice to have the piece of mind knowing that I'm not going to unintentionally burn the place down! I went with the 1-inch iron for two reasons. I have always used a 1-inch. It might take a little longer but gives better precision styling and curling, in my unprofessional opinion. Also, I LOVE the purple! I have not used the sample oil that came with the iron. I appreciate it was included, but right now I'm all about the keratin treatment I discovered at Walmart (It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin). Highly recommend for hair like mine. I bought this to be my backup iron, but I've decided to swap it out to by my main iron at home and bring my old one to my boyfriend's place. That's how much I love it! One little caveat to my review--I just got this iron and have only used it twice. I have no idea how long it will last. Like many lower-priced products, they don't tend to last as long, but as I mentioned with my $200 iron that is six years old, I have a feeling these things need to be replaced every few years with heavy use anyway. My 3 daughters and I love this straightener!! It has adjustable heat settings which is great for us as 2 of us have thin hair and 2 have very thick hair. This straightener heats up super fast, and straightens in one swipe, so it takes very little time to straighten my entire head of hair, which is long. I love the thicker plates so I can straighten bigger sections at once, still only using one swipe. It has a nice grip on the handle to assist with squeezing, it’s super nice, and makes it really easy to use!! TIP: We ALWAYS use a heat protection oil on the last 3 inches of our hair to protect it from the straightening process, it really helps to prevent split/dry ends. ... show more

I went through five different flat irons before finally finding this Tourmaline Ceramic 1-Inch Flat Iron—and I wish I had found it sooner. What immediately stood out is how it manages to grip my thin hair just enough to straighten effectively without pulling or snagging. It glides smoothly while still holding the hair in place, which makes styling much faster and far less frustrating. It also heats up very quickly, which is a huge plus for busy mornings. Another detail I really appreciate is the placement and design of the control buttons—they’re not easily pressed while you’re using the iron, so I don’t have to worry about accidentally changing the temperature mid-style. My only suggestion for improvement would be adding a digital temperature display. It would make it easier to know exactly what heat setting I’m using. I always buy ConAir flat irons because they’re an affordable, reliable brand for those who do their own hair at home. I have kinky/curly, color treated hair, so the heat gets the hair straight on the 1st pass, and tourmaline/ceramic plates are less damaging to my hair. The flat iron also lasts me at least 5 years before I have to replace then (simply because I don’t straighten my hair all the time & switch up styles), but they’re good flat irons. ... show more

Excellent product! I have a lot of very curly but fine hair, and this flat iron made my hair super shinny! After using, my hair had body, lots of movement and felt so tangle free.
