Description

Winning the Cup doesn't compare to winning a kiss from Summer Gunderson. Christopher After I scored the game-winning goal to win the Stanley Cup, I got a congratulatory email from Summer Gunderson that dared me to hope in a way I haven't in years. She was my first love and the girl I've never been able to forget. When I go back to Minnesota for my day with the Stanley Cup, Summer is there, every step of the way, covering it for our town newspaper. While everyone is focusing on me, I'm focusing on her, because of one simple, unending, truth: if Summer is in the room I can't take my eyes off her. Summer I haven't seen Christopher since we parted ways all those years ago, but now he's back for his day with the Cup and I've heard he's going to stay a little while. When he lifts it up over his head to the deafening sound of our hometown crowd, he ignores everyone and looks directly at me as he mouths the word, "Hi." There's no way that we can go back to how it was between us before everything went wrong, but damn it's so good to see him. I just hope he didn't read the embarrassing email I sent him the night he scored that winning goal. Inertia is the first standalone romance in the Colorado Storm Hockey Series. Read more

  • 5/5 read for me
Easily one of my favorite books now that I've read jt....Especially in the hockey romance genre. Ellie has managed to capture so much emotion in this book. This will be a re-read for sure in the future. I wouldn't say it's outright spicy but it has intimacy that other books in it's same genre are lacking. And that intimacy and vulnerability is hard to create, let alone successfully carry throughout an entire book. *chef's kiss* 5/5 read for me. ... show more

  • Endearing love story.
This story is a must read. Sweet, adorable, with a tearful happy ending. The highs and lows these two endure seem unbearable at times. But the love they have for one another never fades. Fabulous!

  • Great story, great romance!
Ellie Malouff is one of my favorite romance authors at the moment. She really knows how to weave a story with just the right amount of angst, emotion, and romance. I loved the character development for these MC's and even though sports romance isn't usually my cup of tea, I really enjoyed the setting and didn't find it cheesy. I want stories for all of Christopher's friends! ;) Definitely recommend to romance fans who enjoy well written characters with lots of development! ... show more

  • AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!
This book was an absolute pleasure to read. It was heartwarming, tender and sexy, everything that a reader can want in a novel. This book allowed me to escape for several hours from the chaos of our world, and that is the truest test of an author's writing ability. This is the first book in a series about the Colorado Storm National Hockey team. It centers on Christopher MacCormack, Captain of the Storm and MVP for the goal that won the Storm the Stanley Cup. When he returns to his hometown to share the Cup with friends and family, he sees Summer Gunderson, the girl who got away all those years ago when he was in high school after the tragic death of Summer’s cousin who was Christopher’s best friend. Summer is assigned to capture Christopher’s triumphant return home for the town’s newspaper. Summer’s artistry and mastery of all things video weaves together a heart-felt and up-lifting masterpiece that prompts Christopher’s team to offer her a job once the video goes viral. Christopher has never lost hope that he and Summer can put aside the circumstances of her cousin’s death and return the love he has for her. Christopher is determined and focused on this goal and in the process of wooing Summer, his patience and kindness, and their mutual physical attraction slowly work to heal both their hearts and replace the sorrow of loss with joy. Ellie Malouff has now been placed among my most favorite writers for her ability to craft a tale that drew every emotion in the lexicon of feelings from my heart by the end of the story. Bring on the next one, I have a new box of tissues and a large glass of ice cubes…I am ready! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. ... show more

  • Confused about the genre of this book . First 1/2 is sooo slow it reads like a Christian romance
I read this book through kindle unlimited and I was confused about the genre it belonged to. The first 1/2 of the book is soooo slow and boring that I thought I was reading a “Christian romance.” I have to say I was totally confused because even though the first half of the book all the hero has done is kiss the heroine’s HAND, there was PLENTY of cursing including the “F” word so I didn’t know what to think. All I knew was that it was moving excruciatingly slow. Honestly I stuck it out. I wish I could say it was worth it but I would be lying. It got slightly better and I found out it is in no way a Christian romance because all of a sudden in the second half the romance gets hot and heavy physically. But to me the dichotomy between the two halves was like reading two totally different books. It just didn’t gel for me. So I found this a confusing amalgamation of a few different romance genres and none of them worked for me and I can’t recommend it because of that. ... show more
