Like the title states, this is the next best option if you can't get an industrial overlock/serger machine, all while giving you a clean and professional finish. I got this to replace my Brother 1034D after it finally broke down after 8 years. What i like most about the Margar serger is that it's designed and built more closer to an industrial overlock machine (refer to the JUKI MO series machines). I've had this machine for 2 days now and immediately, i can tell this is such an improvement over the 1034D. when it comes to threading, if you've used an industrial serger before then you'll know how to do it. Those who have NEVER used an industrial style machine and only domestic style sergers like the 1034D, then you'll need to take time to understand it. While it does come with diagrams and color guides, industrial style sewing machines aren't built with number wheels or straightforward threading systems & adjustments; it's expecting that the operator has mechanical knowledge to know how to make the necessary changes to their machine. It comes with a booklet in the box that helps you out with these things. I've already used it on jersey knit and 10oz stretch denim sewing 2-3 layers and it runs through it like butter and cuts the excess fabric with ease. I'm confident I will get many years of service out of it. There is a Lumina variant of this serger on amazon as well. I suggest not buying it unless it's on sale or the Margar variant becomes unavailable ; they are the same machine 1:1 just different branding. No sense paying $209 when you can spend $176 (at the time of this review) for the same item.

This serger is very hard to thread. The instructions on paper are black and white. There is no video on this item on the website or either through Amazon. I would not purchase this item again. I think the instructions should be much better explain. I would not encourage anyone to purchase this item.
