I needed a camera to monitor our crawl space under the house due to seasonal water table flooding. Its hard to access, so a WiFi camera seemed the right thing to do. I chose this camera because of its resolution and 4 degrees of adjustment meaning you can swivel the base left and right and swivel the camera up and down. After I received it, I then realized I would have preferred to mount it upside down for convenience hanging from the floor joist to keep it safe from rising water. When I plugged it in to start the config process, I about fell out of my chair. This thing has a motorized turret that remotely orients the camera anywhere you want it. I was not expecting that...I thought it was manually set once and leave it. Its about the size of a soup can and kind of looks like a relative of Star Wars' R2D2. You need to load the application on your phone (Android or iPhone) that allows you to manage this device. Its in the instructions on how to do that, but I will say they could do a better job with the instruction booklet, its a little janky. I'm a computer guy so it wasn't to hard to figure out. The steps seem to be out of date due to camera and process improvements. I realize its from China, so the instructions will tend to torture the english language. But nevertheless its decipherable. Most any WiFi camera will try to get you to subscribe to their Cloud service of some sort to backup and manage all of your video and image content for a fee. I don't particularly like that so I prefer to use the built-in SD card slot on the camera if I want any history of motion detection or still images. But wait, there's more! I was lamenting that I wanted to mount this thing upside down but figured the image would be upside down as well. Not so, this camera lets you rotate the image to suite your needs. Awesome. It does have a built-in microphone and speaker to support interactive dialog or hearing if the baby is crying or dog is barking. I didn't need any of that functionality for my deployment but nice feature none the less. Image is crystal clear at 1080p and connectivity seems great as long as you have coverage in your home with a decent Wifi-Router. Two thumbs up...

I got this camera to use as a nanny cam in my kids room, and it serves its purpose adequately. Setting up the connection to WiFi was easy, and the overall setup process was straightforward. While the quality is decent for the price, it's not top-of-the-line, but it suits my needs perfectly for monitoring my son's room.

The camera is easy to install with the designated app on the iOS app store. The problems stem from the camera apparently having the SD card being disabled from the factory. Reading the troubleshooting steps in the user manual which suggests subscribing to the cloud storage service if the SD card slot "inoperable" - which is quite convenient. I have tried multiple SD cards by different manufacturers with no success. The great thing about this camera is the ability to turn towards the direction of sound! It also has a sensitive motion detection function that works very well with the sound tracking feature. Just be aware of this camera and its shortcomings.

It took some effort to get this camera connected. The instructions aren’t very complete and I was stuck for quite a while. It turns out I had been sent an email with a camera pairing confirmation that I had to acknowledge but the YI IoT app never told me that pairing was proceeding successfully and to look for that email (it was in my spam folder too). Once I confirmed the pairing, I was sent to a web page that wanted me to sign up for a paid subscription for camera monitoring. I closed that web page, and the camera works fine for viewing live video through the app on my phone. Some other annoyances are that the instructions are tiny and not very complete. I need reading glasses plus a magnifying glass to read them. During pairing, the system makes a screeching sound, like an old modem but worse, that is supposed to allow a “sonic” connection, and it screeches even if you don’t want to use that connection method. The screeching is very annoying. And, the main feature that I wanted this for, connecting directly to the camera through a camera-generated hotspot doesn’t work. The camera is supposed to create a local wifi network named CAM_..., but two different phones never found that network. I wanted that feature to use this camera for a remote viewing task where I can’t connect to wifi. Another dumb quirk is that one troubleshooting step that pops up in the app is to press a reset button on the camera, but that button is on the bottom of the tilting camera head and blocked by the surrounding housing. If the camera worked, you could tilt the lens upward to expose the button, but if you can’t get the camera to work, you can’t tilt it to access the button. So, after some setup troubles, the camera does work, but only through my home wifi network. The local hotspot connection doesn’t work. The instructions are tiny and not very informative, and you get nagged to sign up for a paid service. I’m being generous by giving this three stars.

So the app is good and product looks decent quality but it will not connect to WiFi, I’ve tried over a dozen times. Idk what else to do

I liked it, was a little finicky at first but I got it up and running eventually. Not sure what their service saving the information and data on the cloud is all about, because my device decided to glitch out and stuff, but who knows. It doesn't seem to do great in the rain so I had it on the porch and the cord was a bit too short. I was happy with the end result of hooking it up and all that, but I'd love it more if I could deal with it better when it comes to cables and such.

I bought this camera to put in my son room as a nanny” cam. It works ok, I have to connect to wifi. The connection/set up is easy to do. The quality is decent for the price , it’s perfect for what I intend to do with the camera.
