This is a perfectly sized incubator for backyard hatching! I like that it is large enough for the chicks to move around as they hatch. In the 12-18 count round incubators, chicks are often squished and standing on top of pipped eggs preventing them from actually hatching. That has not been an issue with the size and shape of this machine. The automatic humidity control allows precise humidity settings for stable temperature and moisture levels, improving hatch rates and reducing manual effort. You will no longer have to guess how much water to add nor remember to add it as it sounds an alarm if conditions change from the set parameters. The lid's transparent design with a built-in egg candler lets you easily observe embryo development and the full hatching process. Unlike some other incubators, this incubators light is sufficient to see through most eggs with the exception of a dark brown or olive egger. The incubator features horizontal turning/rolling. This is similar to what would be going on in the nest if the hen was sitting on it. You just have to remember to remove the turner during the last 3 days. The included rails for holding the eggs is adjustable so it can accommodate most egg sizes. I also like that it has the separate water bottle that you insert a tube into for water/humidity control. This makes it so that you do not have to actually open the incubator to add water. Since this is all plastic, it make clean up after hatching a breeze! Unlike the Styrofoam hatchers, debris is easily removed and it is solid which makes for better sanitization between hatches.

This is a beautiful incubator. It is so nice. I plugged it in for several hours with an external probe thermometer to wait for it to stabilize- and the temperatures were nearly identical (within .1 of a degree) so I put in my eggs - turkey, duck and chicken. The temperature has been remaining stable since (which is what you want in an incubator!) There are two places to do humidity- the classic a/b ports like most table top models, and one of the auto water-er with a tube set up that sucks water out of a bottle onto sponges to maintain your selected humidity. You can also fit so many freaking eggs in this baby! Like I mentioned before, I think I wound up with 3 turkey eggs, 9 duck eggs and 25 chicken eggs (a mix of bantam and full size). The automatic turner on this is the type that pushes eggs back and fourth - which is better for the eggs so that it doesn’t turn in one direction so much it tightly winds the chalaza and kills the embryo. I am a big fan of this thing so far. My biggest concern is that there doesn’t seem to be a clear path to cleaning it after a batch which means chick fluff will build up around the fan and sensors - but that remains to be seen. Hopefully it’s easier than expected. I may do lockdown in smaller incubators so that I can separate out the breeds and varieties anyway. I am put some of the same egg batches into my cabinet incubator to see if it holds up just as well)!
