Description

Description - Our 3/8" and 5/8" soft wood tiles offer a low cost foam flooring surface with the attractive textured appearance of a wood floor combined with the softness and cushion of a foam tile. These tiles interlock to make for an easy DIY installation and include detachable edge pieces so that each tile has the ability to be a center, corner, or border tile. Soft wood tiles are also waterproof, easy to clean, and act as an excellent insulator against sound and temperature transmission. Smaller numbers of tiles can be used to make portable and quick to assemble exercise mats. Note: This product is not designed for medium to high traffic areas. The wooden design is a thin yet durable veneer like foam surface that can be punctured under sharp animal nails, rough use, high heels, and the wooden pattern is not guaranteed to always line up between interlocking tiles. Material – 3/8" and 5/8" Soft wood tiles are constructed of closed cell EVA foam that helps ensure they are water resistant, odor free, lightweight yet durable and insulating. Size – 2' x 2'. Thickness – 3/8 pr 5/8 Inch nominal (~9mm) Weight – Each tile weighs approximately 0.625 or 1 Lbs. I bought the set of 36 tiles. If you care about matching patterns, here's what I figured out after playing with them for a *long* time: With the box contents, I can assemble 9 squares of 4 tiles (plus 8 trim pieces). The pattern matches perfectly within these squares. I did not try to match the pattern between the squares. I even rotated half of them to create a checkerboard effect. I had to glue them to keep them in place. It's too bad that the pattern is not devised to be a repeating one... You can't just get rid of the trim pieces, assemble all the big pieces together AND keep the pattern perfect everywhere. But if you proceed like me, you will be able to cover a bigger area because you use all the trim pieces. The side of the squares is 48 3/4 inches, with slightly rounded corners (also unfortunate, a real square would tile better). ... show more

I installed these foam tiles in my woodworking shop and love it. I used 3M Super 77 spray contact adhesive on both the tiles and the floor to keep them in place. Tiles can still be pulled up & replaced if necessary if you don't spray the contact adhesive too thick. Surprisingly, small drips of ceiling or wall paint are easily removed with a wooden stick if you let them dry, (unlike my vinyl plank flooring). In most large room situations you'll only be able to use the straight edges on one wall and you'll have to custom cut the tiles with a knife to fit to the remaining walls. See YouTube videos for custom fitting tiles for advice. In the photos you'll notice I built a small wooden foot pad for each castor or leg of my woodworking equipment to avoid point loads & tearing of the tiles, (which hasn't happened yet). My only complaint about these tiles is I couldn't match the pattern from one tile to the next. The repeating pattern just can't be matched to another tile in the box, (however the straight edges do match the adjoining tile). Highly recommended. ... show more

    • Used in basement for 1 year so far
I use these in my basement, where I've had some water issues. What happens is this flooring acts like a squeegee and sucks the water (and if you dont notice right away, mold!) Across wherever you lay the floor. My basement is almost 800sq feet and from one small water incident, I have water under the entire basement floor. So I have to remove the entire basement floor and clean both sides. Frankly it's a huge pain. I love the way the floor looks when it is clean but I'm getting real sick of the lack of functionality. I have 3 small kids and a cat. Cats claws tear the floor up like crazy. Kids paint stains it and does NOT come clean after multiple scrubbing, bleach, borax, etc. Also, use the high-ply carpet setting if you vacuum it because my vaccum scuffed it up when I used the bare floor setting. All in all, I like it-its nice in that it creates a soft flooring for romping kids, and it's pretty. But it is touchy, takes time to learn things like how to clean it, and for me it's been a lot of work. I'm keeping it because I don't have a better option ... show more

    • Great for What It Is, Could Use Some Improvements

I really love the look of this wood. There are a lot of other wood foam pieces, but they don't look as good as these. However, I will say that I'm not a huge fan of the texture (i.e. it's not really smooth, but more like dusty rubber if that makes sense). These can also get quite hot easily so that can be a pro/con as well (right now it's summer so I don't really like sitting on it, but I would imagine it would be pretty nice in the winter). I would also add on that you should be careful if you spill liquid on these. The foam itself will be okay but it will go through the gaps and if you don't clean it right away it can lead to mold (I've heard of this happening to other people). If there's one thing I wish the company would do is make smaller/different shaped wood foams because often times there are these odd gaps left with these since it has to work around furniture, air conditioners, etc. It'd be nice to have more flexibility since it can look odd when a certain spot can't fit a square so it's left blank. Overall though, it's quite nice and serves its purpose well. ... show more

I bought these tiles to spruce up my cat's areas of my office as he was doing a bit of damage to my carpets and seemed like he wanted somewhere to lay that wasn't plush. The tiles are extremely soft foam and do temporarily dent any time something hard is placed on it. I'm talking so soft that the tread of my slippers left small dents, but they self-healed in a few seconds once I was off. i anticipate cat claws damaging the tiles over time but since I purchased these FOR the cat, it's nothing to cry about. The tiles are huge and so easy to cut (if needed) and place together seamlessly. The design is beautiful and from even a few steps away the seams disappear and the tiles are gorgeous. They really brighten up the space. I feel like you really get what you pay for with this product. They're exactly what I was looking for and I'll very likely buy again in the future. I ordered the 5/8ths grey foam tiles on two occassions and received two different colors of tiles. In the second order, 5 tiles were the wrong color, and one was the grey color I received in my first order.
