We moved our milking goats to a new barn and there isn’t hot water in it and the furnace (which we used to get hot water in the other barn) is much further away from this barn and we didn’t like carrying water from it. Cleaning my milk machine with cold water leaves a residue and then requires a milk stone build up wash more frequently. I saw this and equated it to a fish tank heater and figured I’d try it. I’m so glad I did! We drop this in our 5 gal bucket and plug it in while we milk. By the time we’re ready to clean the machine (maybe 30ish mins) the water is so hot you can’t put your hands in it!     • I wish I had a hot tub...
I love taking baths in my garden tub, but there's never enough hot water in the tank. This helps with getting the water hot enough but requires planning. It takes a good 30-60 minutes depending on the water temp at the start. You can't touch the water or be in the tub during use which sucks for wanting a solution to keep the water hurt during the bath. I have tried using it mid bath to reheat, but the time makes it an unreasonable solution. Since I can't get a hot tub, at least I can get a really hot bath, even for a little while. Side note - I wish I had this when we camped. There were so many times we needed hot water for dishes or quick washes. I think this would be great for heating up a buck of water for said purposes. ... show more

    • Not for tubs
I thought I would be able to get a hot bath with this heater. I have a 60 gallon bathtub and unfortunately my hot water heater is small. I am unable to completely fill my tub with hot water. I can get about half way with hot water. I bought this in hopes that it would heat the water when I fill the tub all the way. My water comes out at 96°f. I submerged this heater for 8 hours. The first four hours I wanted to see if the heater would warm the tub on its own. The water dropped from 94 to 87. I left the heater in there longer and the water temp continued to drop. This was very useful when my water heater died. 4 stars because it does take a while to heat up water, so you need to plan for it taking about 20 minutes to heat up 5 gallons. I don't regret the purchase though. I would buy it again.

This product is great. Heat up water quickly and the thermometer is s plus. We were able to make it through December by using this heater for bath. This heater is a must have in the house for emergency situation when heater breaks down

This heater was as advertised. My Koi pond does not freeze, but gets very cold. I placed the heater in the water and within an hour the fish were huddled around. My pond is about 600 gallons, and the heater kept the temperature up about 5 degrees, day and night. I tried several other type heaters with negative results.
