I put mine up against some Jo blocks grade A every quarter inch.. They measured within a half thou all the way out. I had been wanting to get a set of "everyday" 8 inch calipers that would be accurate and I would not cry much if they got crunched. After hours of comparisons and reading online, I took a chance and bought the iGaging OriginCal. This is my first digital caliper. (time to give in to the newfangled stuff after 40 years of using dials!) After toying around with it for a while, I found it always returns to zero, although if you do it quickly, it takes a couple of seconds for the computer in the caliper to catch up. Slower movements and it keeps up no problem. The action is smooth, and my sausage fingers can't tell much difference to my Mitutoyo dial calipers. Using the wheel is smoot, but it will take some time for me to get used to using the digital readout for small movements. It looks like the maximum gap in the jaws when closed is at or less than a tenth. Not bad at all! Although I would have liked to have auto on and auto off, for the money, these calipers are a really, really good value. They seem durable, but time will tell. I have a Mitutoyo6" dial, a Starrett 6" dial, a 12" Mit dial, and a 24" Starrett vernier. It seems just as good in action and accuracy as any of them.

I got this to be a "beater" gauge and save my Mitutoyo for "better things". The slide moves very smoothly, the display is easy to read. the jaws were well formed and honed flat (no light peeking through closed jaws). Even does differential measurements. Most importantly, it's very accurate. The only flaw seems to be that you could lose the thumb screw and the piece of rubber insulation and the back for the battery compartment. But that's true of most calipers.

I picked these up for use in my shop, mainly for measuring material thickness and checking parts for CNC and fabrication work, and they’ve been solid overall. 🔧 What I used it for: Measuring steel thickness, hardware sizes, and verifying dimensions on cuts and parts. ✅ Pros: Very consistent measurements for general shop use Easy-to-read display with quick switching between inch and metric Holds zero well even after multiple measurements Uses CR2032 battery (easy to replace) Good overall value for the price ❌ Cons: Slide action is a little gritty, not perfectly smooth Not quite machinist-level precision for very t New!Click to editight tolerances Edges are slightly sharp out of the box 🧠 Details: Accuracy has been consistent when checked against known measurements, and they’re more than capable for fabrication, woodworking, or general shop work. The absolute origin feature is nice since it keeps zero without needing to reset every time you turn it on. The only thing I noticed is the slide isn’t perfectly smooth — it has a slightly gritty feel — but it doesn’t affect measurements in normal use. 🏁 Final Verdict: Great option for everyday shop use if you want reliable measurements without spending a ton. Not a high-end machinist tool, but a solid step above cheap calipers.

This is every bit of quality that you've read. I'm highly impressed. I'm buying a set of them now in the whole range. They are almost as good as mitutoyo. And that's all you need to know. Any other brands are over priced and the same or less quality that Igaging. These every bit as good if not better than Brown and sharp. The rest of the brands out there do not even compare price or quality wise to these. The action is smooth and repeatable. The face of the jaws are ground square and parallel. They measure accurately and precisely. Mine came ip54 which should be decent for a couple splashes of coolant from my CNc I wouldn't drown them though. I bought a pair of brown and sharp at the same time that are the valueline and they are junk compared to these. Cannot recommend them enough. The price is super fair.

I recently started in the CNC machining industry earlier this year. I’ve been using the calipers provided by my employer and decided to start looking for my own. This is by far the best I’ve had for the price and not named Mitutoyo. Of course Mitutoyo set the bar but for anything that won’t break your wallet, iGaging is where it’s at. I wanted to wait a couple weeks before writing a review and I’m very happy. I was thinking of getting the 6” but having the extra room to grab on to when measuring helps out so much. I am very satisfied with my new caliper. It works great, accuracy is spot on, and the feel is smooth and amazing. I hope this review helps the next person.

Regardless of the savings this thing rocks. As a CNC machinist I use calipers daily and have several. Spend the big money on your micrometers. As calipers go this is close enough to the big $ boys at half the price. Yes the display could be a bit bigger and it had a couple sharp edges I had to soften on the scotch bright wheel but it's solid and very accurate. Well worth $66.00

Consistently accurate in stable environment. These use a magnetic strip and work well and accurately as long as they have a good battery and clean low humidity environment. There is no low battery alarm or notification. When the battery is low the tool will give erroneous measurements that only become apparent at the higher end of scale. The original battery lasted for 4 years.
