Old base was well corroded from its location (nearly unreachable) a the top for the bilge area (14 years old too..). Rather than buy a 100% new assembly - $80.00 Marpac unit, I just replaced the top mount / Base.. Comes with 2 barbs and 2 blanks for holes not used .. I did not use the plumber's tape included , rather Permatex #2 thread sealant that gasoline does not adversely effect. Screwed in the barbs and blanks the way I needed them (taking note if fuel in arrows and fuel out arrows on the top) , let the sealant dry a couple of days and reinstalled.. all works great... for 23.00 base replacement. ... show more

I purchased this unit to replace a 20 year old water seperator on a Boston Whaler. It installed using the existing mounting holes and bolted up and connected flawlessly. I dis purchase ne hoses and bronze fittings to connect the fuel lines as the old lines were unservicable. All in all it worked fine.     • Easy install but still needs some tweaks

This product is easy to install once you find a good location on your boat to mount. I used 2 5/16 bolts. Mounting hardware is not included. Recommend using tread sealant. Tape is included but i didnt want to take the chance some coming off and getting into my fuel line. Recommend using a socket wrench to install plugs and fuel connector. It takes ALOT of torque to get them seated and sitting flush. THE WATER DRAIN VALVE WILL LEAK IF YOU OVER TIGHTEN IT. This part will definitely cause you problems if you have a 2 stroke. If its not closed excatly right you will have problems getting a good seal when using your primer bulb. I had to take off filter and bowl and reseated the value. I tested by adding a little fuel to the bowl and hand tighting the water drain valve until leak stopped. Fix the water drain valve and this product would be a 5 star. ... show more

Worked good until I bumped it and gas went everywhere. The bottom leaks letting air in and gas out cutting the engine off.. so now I wrapped electric tape around it until I can get off the lake. I'm going to shop around for a better more solid unit.

I purchased and installed their basic water separating filter and also bought a spare canister to use for the following year's service. I ended up getting an extra canister (this one) for the unit that had bad reviews because of leaking fuel at the treads where the plastic water drain cup is. I thought I was ordering a closed bottom canister that fit my base. Apparently iFJF doesn't sell a replaceable closed bottom canister for the base. Now I'm going to remove their unit and replace it with a better brand like Attwood and throw away this filter canister that I bought but turned out to be the wrong one (return date has long past). What they don't show you on the bottom side of the filter canister is that it goes to a unit with a drain cup. I recommend you buy from Sierra, Quicksilver, Attwood or other known brand.
