Our pups breed has a thin neck, large chest and narrow waist. (Texas Blue Lacy) The drawstring neck, and the adjustable belt on the waist makes this jacket better fitting than any other coat I've tried for her! It's also nice and long so she's covered from ears to tail. I did try putting the optional leg elastics on her back legs, she got used to them quickly, I'm just too lazy to use them for a quick potty break, they're really not needed. I haven't cut them off, but if you wanted to do so that would be easy. The jacket is really well made, seams are sewn tightly with no loose strings etc. The fuzzy sherpa/fleece interior is nice and warm, and the strong smooth exterior fabric doesn't snag on brush and grass, it blocks wind - and a great bonus is that it even repels rain! We're experiencing extremely cold temperatures right now, and I feel assured this coat is protecting my short-haired pup! I'm VERY HAPPY with this dog jacket. Definitely recommend! ... show more

I got an XL coat for my 67lb pittie mix. I'd say the coat was a bit big on him, but with the adjustable straps, it works well. However, if I were to order again, I'd probably order a size down. Overall, the coat is super soft with a plush lining, seems to be water/snow proof, and is really easy to put on. I'd also recommend it in terms of mobility and practicality because it is easy for him to move and there are no messes made when he does his business. ... show more

The jacket is great. We just got it today and we've gone from -10° to +50°, so may update this in the future. Outer material seems durable and will repel water some. The inside fleece is super soft and should hold in plenty of heat. It was super easy to put on. Simply slipped it over his head and slid the buckle underneath his two front legs and attached them over his back. I took a star off because I have a standard poodle who is long and slender. I had to order the XXL for length and it fits perfectly that way. Unfortunately the straps that go around his belly are much too long. When he walks in the coat it slides around his side, I can't imagine what it will do when he runs. If it's flopping around on his body I don't know how it will hold any heat in. I'll have to figure out a way to shorten them 3-4 inches, somehow. The straps cannot be shortened any more than they already are. They do, however, extend large enough to encompass an elephant. This jacket would not work for slender breeds like Standard Poodles, Greyhounds, Dobermans, Great Danes, some of the hunting breeds, and any other breed that is long in the body but slender in their torso. ... show more

I have 3 dogs. One is 60 lbs, wears an XL, one is 55 lbs wears an L and my smaller one weighs about 45-50 lbs and wears a M. I have gotten quite a few jackets for them in the past. It's tricky finding the right one. I'm so glad we ordered these. They fit good and the quality is great. It is water resistant too. I feel it is definitely worth the cost also. this coat was very warm for my girl. The fit was odd but then she's very long and not overly tall. i can alter the center strap to make it tight enough for her. Easy to put on and take off. The turtleneck comes way up her neck to keep her extra warm. Downside to this coat is it is not machine dryable so not sure how we'd get it dry in the wintertime. PRO: 1st we got the x-large, which was big enough to parasail in. Then we traded it for the large . . suddenly the straps were the right length, coverage of his hind quarters was right, and the yoke that holds the coat onto his torso wrapped him in snuggly sherpa warmth all around his torso, AND chest AND neck!! We dumped the back leg straps immediately, they were in the way, the coat was already snuggled around his torso anyway . . . . We have a Carhartt chore coat for him too, when it is cool, but when it is 35 degrees or less, this thing turns a trudging walk into a tail wagging adventure . . we also bolted a blinky light onto the rain flap for the leash, behind his neck, and we can see him no matter what, moon or no moon . . though the red accent shows up even in early evening dusk . . NO hassle with whizzing, everything is out of the way of yellow snow . . An all around, light weight but very warm, rain and wind and snow WINNER . . CONS: We had to reinforce where the yoke straps were sewn . . their dogs must be way mellower than OUR dog . . . . and like I said, those back straps were just an annoyance, for him, and for us . . and frankly, just not needed . . ... show more
