We built a “catio” for our 2 crazy kitties attached to a window. This pet door and window sash works but there are a few flaws with the design. 1. The bottom silver knobs used for expanding and tightening the width, kept it from fitting in our window. The instruction sheet mentioned this as an issue and gave steps on how to remove them. It was a giant pain to remove the knobs. You basically have to disassemble the bottom half of the panel. The instructions for this part were difficult to understand and the screws were very hard to remove. Once removed, it leaves a little hole (obviously) exposed to the outside elements. So we’ll have to plug those somehow. 2. The door to close the flap does not fit because of the window lip. (See photos) This is huge for me because I wanted to be able to shut the flap at night and when we’re not home. It’s impossible to put it on without opening the window - which defeats the purpose of you have it secured in place. You need a completely flat window to be able to use the door - no lip used to open the window from the inside. 3. You need more weather stripping. The one small roll that comes in the package is enough to do across the top of the panel. But it was breezy yesterday and I could feel it coming in on both sides of the panel and the bottom. Not too much of an issue now that it’s warm but in the winter that will be cold air billowing through. In conclusion - we are keeping the door. It’s the best option we’ve seen for what we need. But honestly it’s a bit disappointing for the price. Not being able to use the locking door is a big issue we need to figure out though. The installation is easy if you don’t have to remove the bottom silver screws - but your window frame will have to be very small for it to fit flush without removing them. Our cats haven’t quite figured it out yet but I’m sure they will. The door is large enough that our Maine Coon will be able to fit through it fine. So ok but needs work and extras to install. ... show more

Did a lot of research. For the same product with the medium size flap, it would have cost $180 on other sites. Got this for $130. Comes with a slide over cover for the flap should you need it. There are instructions to remove the bottom screws that tighten the side tension inserts if they are in the way after installation but I didn't need to do that. Nicely made product, sturdy. Nice white color but wish I could have gotten it in brown, but not worried about it. I had made one with a screen and a smaller flap that I already had but the cat kept pulling off the plastic sheeting I put over it to keep the hot/cold weather. This is so much nicer in looks and functionality. Can't say enough about how happy I am with it. ... show more

This has made our life so much easier. We have two pugs that would go in and out, in and out all day long. Now they’re happier because they get out more, we’re happier because we’re not getting annoyed and there’s no more accidents. Our window had a drop so we used cinder blocks to make it easier for our dogs to get out. I also went to the fabric store and got vinyl fabric that I taped to the window sill to keep it clean and protected. Seriously, couldn’t be happier! It installs super easy too. ... show more

We'd talked about a doggy door for years but avoided buying one because we thought it would be a hassle to install. This one works right into a widow (and we have low windows on the sun porch) and it was a breeze to install. Training our two terrier-mixes to use it was also much easier than expected. Over the course of three days, we refused to let them out through the human door and bribed them through their new door with treats. What really made it work, though, was when a deer came into the yard and they hot to get outside and chase it off - no more hesitation. Now (just two weeks later), they seem to prefer their own entry/exit. Highly recommended. ... show more

I love these things, I own two of them for my cats. One of my boys is a little chubby so I ordered the biggest opening one the first time. It works great but I would advise not to order the biggest opening one for cats, they can all get through it but the rubber flap is just too heavy for them. It would surely be easy enough for dogs. I ordered a second smaller opening flap for another window and it was a better choice for cats. So no fault of the company for me ordering the biggest one, i highly recommend, they work great and fit my windows perfectly. Not one complaint…….. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Our Jack Russell learned to use this on day one. It took our Chihuahua a little longer, but less than two weeks. The product is a little pricey, but worth it if you need this option. We have glass doors so we would have to replace our door in order to install a traditional doggie door. Awesome that we could just put this in the window without any cutting. The plastic closure plate doesn't fit well with our window, but we still love this doggie door. We would rather not use this plate anyway; it might confuse our dogs. We just block the whole window off if we don't want them going out. ... show more

    • Not great because of lack of insulation
I like it, my cats love it. I had to teach my cats to go thru the flap head first. They didn't take to it, so I had to pick them up and push them through several times and they finally got it. I would rate it higher, but the flap isn't insulated at all and a lot of cold air comes in. I don't understand why the manufacturer didn't insulate it (3 flaps). Sometimes, the magnet doesn't stick, so the flap is partially open. The company could have done a better job and so, I feel because of these two issues, I think the unit is overpriced ... show more

I love this, and it works great. My only complaint is that there needs to be a better way to seal it up around the edges. Also, I feel like it could be a bit more insulated. Also, the slide-up/off door cover doesn't really work with windows that have a lip at the bottom. The lip prevents the door cover from sliding. It may have been better to design the cover to slide sideways. But these are very minor complains. Overall, I like it and my dog loves it. ... show more
