Sound is far superior to any previous Bluetooth speaker I've owned. I use it both indoors and in my pool area. It truly covers a space in sound, holds up to minor splashes, and connects to any device with no issues. The only downside is I cannot get the app to work with it so some of the advanced features (such as linking multiple speakers together) are not available to me. I currently own a variety of portable speakers, hard wired speakers and a home theater system. I have always been a fan of BOSE for the sounddock systems and the portable battery powered Revolve +. Bose is known for over emphasized & artificially created soundstage. However, this in my opinion is a positive when it comes to small portable speakers. When the first BOSE sounddock came out years ago I was amazed at how big and full it sounded for it's size. I have had a few generations of that one and now they have the Bose Soundtouch 10,20,30 series. I own the series 20 and have it at my office. Great smaller hardwired speaker. However, I wanted a portable speaker to take to the beach, pool, my garage, our back porch, yard, etc. The answer was the BOSE Revolve Plus. First time I powered it on I was amazed at the sound and bass for the little size. The battery lasts a long time and being splash proof was nice when we would take to our friends pool. With our growing family I find the revolver plus disappearing more so I was looking to purchase another. I waited a few weeks knowing BOSE was coming out with the newer version that was only slightly bigger, more powerful, deeper bass, WiFi AND now with Alexa and other app capability. I received it about a week ago and it was very easy to hook up to internet, update and run the BOSE app. No issues like some others have had. I really enjoy being able to run it on WiFi at home, but still be able to use Bluetooth if out and about. I think the Sonos app is better, but the Bose app is still ok and seems to get better with updates. (Been using the BOSE app a few years now) After charging, I set it side by side with Revolver plus to see if it was different enough or if I would be sending back for another Revolver plus. I could easily flip back and forth in my Spotify app to move the sound instantly from one back to the other over and over. Tried different genres of music from Country, to Hip Hop to Jazz to Rock. Definitely a warmer and more filling sound with the new BOSE Portable Home Speaker. Louder as well if needed. I thought the Revolver had great sound, but now it sounds a little flatter next to this one. The extra radiator gives a little more bass too which is nice. The size between the two is almost the same with the new Bose being a hair taller and wider and a tad heavier. I have a pic of both above side by side. I skipped the Sonos Move, not because of sound, but its size, weight and portability. No way are you throwing that speaker in a suitcase or car to travel. Much heavier and much bigger in size. The size of this speaker and grab handle make it excellent for taking anywhere with you. Add the built-in Alexa and you get a great speaker. Yes, it is a tad pricey. If you are considering the Revolve plus, spend the extra $50 for this one. You won't be sorry. Overall I am very satisfied with this speaker. Very clear highs, "ok" mid-range and decent bass for the size. I also like you can adjust the bass and treble on this one where the Revolve you cannot. I currently own a Sonos Play 5, which I love and use in my family room. I also own a Sonos Beam for a center in the family room. Both are great for that room and I really like the Sonos app. I also have a Martin Logan theater system in the basement. This Bose is honestly not that far behind the Play 5 which is mind boggling. Just shows you what a great job BOSE can do with such a tiny footprint. To sum up, if you want a portable speaker that you can actually take with you easily to the beach, pool, yard, gym or anywhere, I don't think this speaker will disappoint for the size, sound, Alexa capability and battery life. Expensive, but the sound is amazing! It's hard to beat Bose when it comes to speakers. I bought it for a whole house speaker. But then again, I don't live in a mansion. The advantage is I can take it with me to the beach, boat, camping, etc.

I’ve been a Bose enthusiast for 47 years, following in my father’s footsteps, who swore by Bose home stereo speakers. Over the years, I’ve invested in Bose for my home, car, and portable needs—and even passed my admiration for Bose down to my three sons. But recently, I spent $400 on a portable Bose speaker, and I have to say, I’m disappointed. It performs flawlessly *only* when I have the exact Bose charging cord and block with me. For a premium product, this dependency on a proprietary charger is frustrating—especially when alternatives like JBL offer similar quality without this restriction. Bose, your sound is legendary, but it’s time to rethink accessibility and convenience. Loyal customers like me deserve better.     • Loud, clear bass, and easy to carry

First and most importantly, the speaker's sound quality is awesome! The bass is deep, super clear, and loud for a speaker this size. The speaker's handle also makes it easy to carry, though the weight is very light. A child could safely carry this speaker around with no problem. At full volume, 100% sound level which is very, very loud, the speaker will only last 3 hours. I do like the fact that when then the battery gets low, around 35%, the speaker will briefly pause what's playing and notify you that the battery is low stating it's percentage. If you keep playing the music past the low battery notification without placing the speaker on a charger or plugging it into a power outlet, you'll start hearing slight pauses in the songs as the battery drains. This is actually a good thing because even if you've missed or didn't hear the low battery notification, once you start hearing the small silent pauses in your songs, you'll know the battery is getting low, like I did. This will give you time to put the speaker on a charger without interrupting music play. If you can't get to a power source in time, after a while, the pause intervals increase until the battery reaches 0% and the speaker turns off. All of this is good though because it's a warning that it's time to recharge. Of course, none of this applies if you're planning to have the speaker plugged in the entire time during music play. This only applies if you're running off the battery alone. I purchased a second or backup Bose speaker to help offset the 3-hour max volume capacity. Where I use my speakers often, I am not always near a wall outlet to recharge, so I purchased a second Bose speaker of the identical type. I carry both speakers with me in a backpack and just switch out when the first speaker's battery dies. Of course, a much larger speaker will probably have a longer battery life at this high volume. However, I like portable size and light weight of this little speaker. Like the first one I bought from Amazon, the second Bose speaker like this one, which I bought from another retailer also only last three hours at maximum volume. At a decent volume, around 50% level or less, the battery life easily lasts several hours. The lower the volume, the longer the battery life. However, if you're going to be near a power outlet to keep it charging while playing, then rock on to this super loud little speaker! ... show more
