  • An essential for every bassist
Color: Brown Mahogany
I became an Ibanez fan boy after purchasing this SR-500 and I knew I had to purchase the entire SR series. This bass lives up to the hype. The 3band on this bass is just the same the 4 string version with the added benefit of a pick-up switch for those of us who like to quickly switch between high and lower contours. The string spacing is not too far removed from that of the 4 string will possessing a slim neck the likes of which I haven’t seen on other basses. By far my favorite bass. ... show more

  • The SR505 Delivers
Color: Brown Mahogany
Love this bass. I've had my eye on it for a while and finally bought it. The elixir strings that come with this bass will be bright when you first start to play it. A combination of breaking in the strings (i.e. play for a while on them) and more importantly, adjusting the EQ on the bass to roll off some of the highs, will resolve the brightness on these strings. And if that doesn't do it, swap out the strings for something a little more mellow. The neck on this bass is fast. Really fast. Makes my Sterling SUB5 neck feel like it's a 2x4! The string spacing is a little tight, but I like that personally. Playing this bass is truly a pleasure. A professional-grade bass guitar at a mid-level price. Ibanez has a keeper in the SR505. ... show more

  • Worth every penny!!!
Color: Brown Mahogany
This was worth the wait and buy! Great sound, lightweight and a true beauty! I am extremely impressed by this bass guitar. It's my first time playing a 5-string bass, but it has me questioning why I did not change from a 4-string a decade ago. Since I have back problems, I've been playing bass while sitting down on stage. But with the Ibanez SR505BM, I can stand, walk, jump and even run with this lightweight bass. Trust me, best purchase ever made on Amazon!!! ... show more

  • Broke in half
Color: Brown Mahogany
So, I have been playing bass for over 12 years. I have strictly been an Ibanez and Fender J Bass fan. Ibanez for drop tuning and metal, J Bass for everything else. I have used and abused my basses and never had a failure whatsoever. I have put Ibanez basses through hell with never even a hiccup from them. Tonight, for the first time playing this bass live, it broke in half. The neck broke off of the body. Never seen anything like it before. I don't think anything has actually broken ( it's 2 am, just got done unloading gear for the night, I'll do a full examination tomorrow), but the neck screws completely stripped out I think. This has got to be a manufacturing defect, or Ibanez has gone to absolute shit in the past few years with their basses, because I've owned about 7 different 4, 5, and 6 string basses with no issues at all. Hopefully Ibanez makes this right for me, or they have lost a devoted and loving customer of over a dozen years. ... show more

  • Very satisfied!
I felt pretty safe about this purchase- 1. I like Ibanez guitars. 2. I like Bartolini pickups. I am extremely happy with the feel and options for sounds from this bass.

  • Great bass! Good sounding
Great bass! Good sounding. The only bad thing I would say, is the finish seems like it would rub off easily.
